The more I drive my Gt the more I appreciate the Mach. That's not a knock on the GT by any means. I just find the Mach is far better a car than maybe even I appreciated...

Truly as you said...A Gem...

Would love to drive that R one day...

Re: The bubble will burst!

In driving my Boss302 on a regular basis, I'm very happy to have not gotten rid of the Mach 1. It's in a class by itself, and Ford has taken the affordable pony car and pushed it out towards the edge of being attainable by the normal working person, unless you stick with the basics only.

Re: The bubble will burst!

I agree...The GT500 is out of sight for me and why is it so heavy? I like to read about it & one day hope to see one up close...kind of like I would look at a Ferrari. Hmmm...nice....then move on.

I too think the Mach ! was extremely special! I call it the BEST BALANCED Mustang Ford ever built & just a pleasure to drive in every way ! Add the Cobra Terminator & we conquered the performance world! I feel capable of tearing into a Mach & modifying (if it is ever needed!) or repairing something (if it ever breaks!) whereas the higher tech cars don't interest me at all to work on. They seem like a car that is set from the factory & you don't dare touch it.

If I had the money I WOULD buy a GT350 R as it still has the stuff that thrills me to my core! I too think it is the peak of Mustang evolution...a drivers car par excellance!

But at my stage in life I much prefer to be happy & content with what we have! An '04 Black Mach 1 that is the most perfect one we have ever owned, thanks Scott! That one belongs to my son but I can have & drive it anytime . And the White 94 GT that I have taken as my project car to modify as I see fit & drive all of the time. Even this lowly little SN95 pushrod 5.0 is a solid blast to drive now & I love it more all the time! The greatest retirement hobby ever! My son gave it to me after he got his new Mach 1. A hand me up if you will.

New Mustangs are out of my life now and I have no desire for the future...all Electric Mustangs for 2023??? How you gonna have that V8 rumble...have a good stereo & external speakers? No thanks!

Here is my 94 GT & me communicating!

What year is your Boss 302 and how are you liking it? I’ve been considering picking up this used 2013 with around 30K miles. I’m a little scared of the MT-82.

It's a Race Red 13 I bought used. It drives 'big', bigger than the Mach 1.It's has plenty of power and any issues I had with the transmission or shifting were fixed when I installed a Blowfish shifter bracket, a simple for for a stupid problem.

I have read fantastic reviews on that product, considering what it does it is a real bargain!

Re: The bubble will burst!

I was unsure of it as first and spoke to a few locals that had used it and I finally broke down and bought one. It was insanely easy to install, and in seeing how it installed and actually worked it all made complete sense. I was also able to see how poor the ford design and execution was. I can't give it high enough ratings.
It's akin to throwing a Hurst shifter in a vintage muscle car.

I'm looking into the blowfish shifter bracket for my 2011 GT500.
It really made a difference??
I hate the squishy feel and have had issue's getting locked out at high rpms so this would be a nice upgrade it seems.. I have done nothing to the car except hood struts so its time for some upgrades I guess. Really enjoy the car for what it is, but definitely love driving the Mach 1.

Re: The bubble will burst!

I think the real problem is Ford is going all-out with this because in this economy, they can. People are blowing money on whatever they want.

This economy won't last, though. The bubble will burst and $80k cars will sit on lots forever.

Perhaps that's why GM under-cut everyone with their $59k C8 and announced a "budget" V8 Camaro for $33k simultaneously. They realize something has to give. After rebates and incentives this fall, those V8 Camaros will be bought for $28k probably, which is what my Mach 1 stickered for 17 years ago.

I hate GM products, but they are playing it a lot smarter right now. Nobody gives a **** about a high dollar Mustang. Heck, the Dodge Challenger is outselling Ford's Mustang at the top end trim levels despite the Challenger being an 11 year old design.

Good read, that is why I titled this "The bubble will Burst" because it will. The problem now is that they have painted themselves into a overpriced market and there is no way to go but down. When you start adding these insanely high priced options you have killed the dream for most.

Once you see the design of the factory shifter mount, you'll see why the shift quality isn't there (it's anchored to the car, not the transmisson, so the shifter alignment changes as the driveline torques). The Blowfish set up makes so much more sense and improves the entire shifting experience. I've been told it's even better with an aftermarket shifter, but I didn't want to go that far, and in the end, didn't need to.

This validates my point, your Boss and his Gt 500 both high end specialty Mustangs that need an after market product to make them the way they should have been Factory. For the price of these cars there should have been nothing left to chance. Don't get me wrong, I love the Mustang and have owned them all my life, but Ford needs to get real and step up if they are going to ask insane amounts for these cars.

I was looking at picking up a V8 Raptor for a little while. If you wanna see insane prices for a used truck, look up a 6.2 raptor with over 100k miles on it. If Ford releases a newer V8 Raptor the price is gonna tank on the steel trucks.

Ive been thinking about selling my Mach 1 but its threads like this that would make me regret it i guess. i think i put 100 miles on it this year. Too many things going on.

You'll regret it and at least it'll be there when you get a chance to hop in. So many people have left here and have regretted it, even to teh point of finding replacements. Still underappreciated, it continues to make me happy on a regular basis.
And if Ford does go ahead with a 5.2CPC S/C (GT500) option on the Raptor, you'll get EcoBoost Raptors for cheap.

GM has no choice but to discount the hell out of the Camaro because it isn't selling. They're selling about half as many Camaros as mustangs in the recent article I saw.

Im not surprised about high end Challengers selling well, I'd have to imagine those are Hellcat cars and nobody has a competing product
