Cold air intake..which one?
Planning on getting a cold air kit some time in the next week or so. Have never used them before, does any one recommend one for a mach 1?

What are your other mods? Drop in filter is good enough.

Re: Cold air intake..which one?
Honestly unless you get a fenderwell CAI you are better off with a drop in. They only thing the Ram Air Intakes are good for is raising the IAT. The stock box is better then any RAI since it doesnt allow the engine heat to get to the filter and sucks the air from the fender instead of being open like a RAI. If you do decide to go with a fenderwell though I highly receommend the JLT one.

I have the JLT one that uses the shaker. I think it looks good, but I admit I've swapped it out a few times with the stock setup. IMO, I think it's ridiculous to use a fender mount CAI kit and leave the shaker disconnected. The whole cars mantra is the **** shaker. I'd get a drop in K&N, unless your stock CAI is beat up. Just remove the milk jug thingy and plug the whole real good. It looks better without it.

If you're getting an aftermarket intake tube, get the jlt. The difference should be minimal between a k&n filter and jlt. The jlt is the biggest, straightest shot of all the aftermarket tubes and looks the best.

Re: Cold air intake..which one?
JLT makes a nice intake it won't do much for a light bolt on car. If you plan to do Cams, PSR, long tubes & etc it's worth it.

I can't believe no mention of the C&L unit, had it for years and loved it..looked nice, sounded decent and kept shaker functional.

Re: Cold air intake..which one?
I'm running a 99 Cobra intake tube with the bung plugged with a K&N drop in filter. I have cut the stock air horn down 3 inches to allow more air there. I also made my own shaker diverter, using plastic from mud flap i bought from autozone. These saved me some bucks and seem to run well. good luck with whatever you decide on.

Anybody still have the snorkel? I wouldn't mind buying it. I'm planning on putting my stock CAI back on and just removing the milk jug.

It looks really close to this. It basically fits on the air box on the other side into the fender.

Re: Cold air intake..which one?
I, too, am considering the JLT RAI. I saw a picture somebody put on the page for the JLT RAI on American Muscle's website where they compared the stock setup to the JLT setup side by side and the difference in sizing and flow path is immediately noticeable. I don't see how the stock filter housing and tubing could possibly flow as well. Not only is the stock tube a less direct path, but it's also smaller diameter and more flexible which is bad for flow.
There's a guy who posted up above that he made 298 HP on the stock intake which is very impressive, but what would it have been with the JLT intake? That's what we need to see. We need to see the actual difference measured on a dyno. For now, I'm on the fence... I think I'll spend my monthly car budget on a MGW shifter and keep thinking about the RAI...

Re: Cold air intake..which one?
The JLT adds no power, ive done the back to back testing.

Have you? Cool. If you don't mind me asking, what were the before and after numbers?

The stock tube flows more than the stock TB so increasing the diameter of the intake tube does nothing to improve power.
