how to know when hoosier slicks are toast

Can anyone tell me what to look for on my hoosier slicks to see when i need to replace them? They are true slicks 28x9x15. I bought them used and was told they were used at a couple test and tunes and i have used them for about 20 runs. My mickey thompsons have an arrow but the hoosiers dont have any wear indicator that i have seen There is a circle all the way around the tires about a quarter inch down from the tread surface.

Can anyone give me an idea at least what to check so that i dont accidently go down the track with an unsafe tire.

well its not gonna go from like tread to full cords. just race and check on them periodically. you'll be fine
