Re: Songs that pick you up!

Anything Megadeth or Metallica. My kids listen to my music too. I'm an 80's/90's music fan gravitating towards rock and metal. But also like Run DMC and the Beasties.

Here's a song that pumps me up, would listen to in the staging lanes.

Re: Songs that pick you up!

My favorite jam for cruising in the Mach has always been Rush's Red Barchetta. I could always jam with Van Halen's Panama as well as practically any of the older VH songs lol. As far a heavier stuff, I didn't really listen to Metallica in the 80's so much, but I did jam to Iron Maiden.

Re: Songs that pick you up!

I've been playing "Black Promises" off the "Carved In Stone" album by Vince Neil for at least 10 years in my Mach when I go anywhere. It starts off somewhat mellow and towards the end of the song just completely cranks. I never get sick of playing it over and over.

reminiscing some youth
at the time, these guys looked like they just came off the set of The Road Warrior
one other item I happened to be chatting with a friend about... when this album was released it was a covert mission to listen to it when the parental units weren't home because it was strictly verboten - there's not even any profanity. Now I'm listening to Nine Inch Nails; my dad would probably have a stroke.

Re: Songs that pick you up!

Lately I've been listening to a band called Here Come the Mummies. I believe they refer to the music as funk. Its just really struck me as good music and something I am enjoying these days. Took a little while for the music to grow on me. Now I'm planning on hitting two concerts for them this year. Pretty excited about it, haven't been to a concert since 1994 I believe..
The band was introduced to me by some people who have been on this registry since day one.. Give them a try. The below link is a song titled Pants.
https://youtu.be/eB5EE42So7I

And this is coming from a long haired metal head growing up in the 80's...

Funny you say that. While rummaging through my mother's albums as a child i was exposed to bands like white zombie, marilyn manson, pantera, metallica, nine inch nails etc. My musical persona wasn't forged only in the fires of metal, however. I vividly remember the best of The Doors double disc compilation being my favorite of them all. I knew every vocal and note in those songs before i was 10 years old. Couldn't be happier about her letting me decide freely what music i wanted to experience. Thanks Mom

That’s a catchy tune. Not something you can fire up on game night at the church lol. Bob & Tom... that brings back memories. I used to listen to them every weekday morning for years.

Most of the lyrics have adult/sexual innuendos and are generally humorous. In my opinion they are very talented musicians. Got my wife listening to them they have lots of music on youtube. They played the Indiana State Fair in August 2018!!
March 27 I'm taking my 21 year old to the Jimi Hendrix experience concert. Several good artists will be performing. The performer I most want to see is Dave Mustaine from Megadeth. My kids listen to what I do...

The name of that song just made another one pop into my head (off topic).

the Bar-kays - Soul Finger
Anyone recall what 80's comedy movie the song was used in??

Call me Al, by Paul Simon. It is corny, but I just love hearing it.

So don't know why I didn't listen to them more when they were an actual band in late 1990's early 2000's.
Limp Bizkit
Like the pop songs they redid & gave a heavy edge to.

They're still a band. Saw them a few years ago and even touched fred durst's shoulder as he walked past me on the floor during their set. They put on a hell of a show. If you ever get the opportunity to see them, I would. A tremendous amount of energy sorrounds them when they play.

I have heard Fred has been MIA.
But it does look like they played some concerts in the last year. I'll keep looking back for tour dates in my area. They seemed like they would be good in concert.
Thanks

Re: Songs that pick you up!

My son has me listening to Tool. Like some of that music. Some of the songs are like 15 minutes long it seems. The singer is kind of weird wearing riot gear and standing behind the other members on stage. But I don't care what they wear if its good music.

Re: Songs that pick you up!

Probably gonna get flamed for it but I personally like a lot of Linkin Park songs. Especially off the last album - One More Light. It’s a bit soft compared to what they started with but the meaning in the lyrics is on point to me. I don’t really listen to songs to “lift my spirits”. I listen to them to feel like I can relate to someone and that I don’t feel alone.

I’ll listen to about anything but I’ve been on a Pantera heavy metal kick lately.
