The old Turd Passed again.
Okay, I know all of you are tired of my Fox threads, but just could not contain myself.
The coupe passed emissions (legally) for the 2nd year in a row. Now, for some of you that may not seem like much of an accomplishment, but remember this is a 17 year old car that has to have a sniffer test performed. The car is FAR from stock with heads/intake/blower/big injectors/etc... The one thing I did as a concession to driveability and emissions was to use the stock 5.0 cam... Here are the results... High Speed test HC (ppm) Standard 174...Result 36 CO(%).... Standard 1.12...Result 0.14 Nox........ Standard 1258...Result 281 Low Speed test HC (ppm) Standard 180...Result 31 CO(%).... Standard 1.01...Result 0.01 Nox........ Standard 1378...Result 246 I love having a 400+hp 17 year old car that I can drive anywhere, and can take to the yearly test without having to do anything other than drive it into the shop... Clean as a whistle... Now I just need to do something about those brakes anyway...I am happy

Re: The old Turd Passed again.
That's pretty impressive. Congrats!
If I didn't have the hookup, I couldn't pass emissions with the 03!

Re: The old Turd Passed again.
Would an E303 cam work with the blower?
Or would that be too much cylinder pressure with zero overlap? I had one on an old 5.0 N/A and it was real torquey. EDIT: Here's a tip for 5.0 Fox chassis brakes. use all stock stuff, rotors, etc, BUT Use Lincoln Town Car calipers and pads. I think the model year was 92. Larger piston for better "apply" area, better pedal feel, etc. Literally bolts right in.

man, looks as though it runs very cleanly. Love the foxes. I can't wait until I can afford to have an extra car, as one will be a fox

Glad to hear it passed. I know sometimes it's frustrating to smog your car.

Re: The old Turd Passed again.
The E303 cam is supposed to be "green".
Do you have 1.7 rockers or anything like that? The old Ford racing kit had the D9AZ-2140-A Master cylinder. 79 Panther/Crown Vic Master cylinder. Had the kit on my 5.0.

Re: The old Turd Passed again.
Congrats! My brother and I both got lucky this last time we got tested. His 93 cobra barely passed w/o cats and 40 series Flows, and my 03 started throughing codes not 2 hours after passing. It is a great feeling when your car than shouldn't pass actually does.

Re: The old Turd Passed again.
That's funny because all of the cars I see with emission problems are newer cars. It just goes to show that if you take care of your car it will last

I could probably work with the cam to make it pass. I might try it again just to see how things go. Honestly though, the car runs so good with the stock cam in there that you really don't miss the "bigger" cam. The car has a read Jeckly/Hyde personality right now with the stock cam. Idles stock, and is very tame otherwise, just wakes up with the blower... as far as the brakes, I don't remember the part number on the MC but it is the older style larger one from the SVO. It just has the 1" piston bore and the pedal is still a little soft so I am going to go to the larger one from the 95gt when I get a chance.

Mine did that too. I installed the Steeda SS caliper sleeves ( for the bolts) and SS braided hoses, made pedal "feel" much better. Car stopped great though.

Naah, John....I like hearing about ALL Mustangs. I had a couple of LX5.0 Foxes myself. I've been a Mustang owner since 1970 and we're a loyal following no matter what kind of Mustang it is. There are some new and first time Mustang (i.e. Mach 1) owners on the forum but a lot of us are just continuing our relationship with the Mustang theme. For some of us, our Mustangs are like kids or grand kids, and we like to brag about them and show them off. Never appoligize to me about talking about one of your other "kids", they're all from the same family.
