new ford finned rear cover
A little more sex appeal for the under side of my mach. Bought this when it was on sale from AM. Along with royal purple oil. I will have to trim the two large fins because they are about 1/8 from the sway bar. I'm installing mm lcas and eibach sway bars this up coming week end so I'll do it then. Love the magnetic fill and drain plugs. Made filling super easy. |

Re: new ford finned rear cover
Dude that looks sweet..IMO DO NOT use the Royal Purple. Last week I started haveing a slight hum in rear (really for about the last 6 months, just started getting louder) and decided since I am going to the track to change fluid. It had about 10-15,000 miles on it with 4 track passes. It came out like water and was this gray-black color!! I am not making this up, like water coming out. I refilled with Mobil 1 and added a bottle of modifier. Just my recent experience!!

Re: new ford finned rear cover
Used RP with mine for 7 years, countless passes down the track with 6k clutch dumps on ET streets, and about 25k miles. Never had a single issue with my setup.
Not promoting the stuff, just another experience. BYW OP. The rear cover looks good! Have you thought of painting it black and then taking sand paper to the tops of the fins? Think that would look awesome.

Re: new ford finned rear cover
Painting it like that would look good, but its already on there LOL!
The only complaint I've heard of royal purple was the price. Haha. |

Re: new ford finned rear cover
Looks great. Get some Rustoleum Rust to Black for your axle tubes, if you want to clean up the look.

Re: new ford finned rear cover
Did the bolts (special to the cover) come with the AM piece? Ebay has them for sale with or without the bolts and I guess they are pretty pricey from Ford.

Re: new ford finned rear cover
It's actually a steeda piece that is identical to the ford one, but cheaper. And it came with new bolts, the original ones are too short, to be used with this.
