I think that you have to have a Mach 1 VIN # in order to qualify. I can be wrong though.

They are talking about letting Cobras participate. I would consider it a Cobra.

Re: New Project "R" thread

When the time comes, the VIN will be assigned by Florida DOT.
It might be cool to take it, just to meet members of the board.

I had a spare pony but not a panel.

If I had caught whomever did it, they would have been uncomfortable,
most likely from the Louisville slugger jammed in his backside.

Thanks, I have not had the time or $$ to get any more done recently,
but it is coming along.
Still need one of Al's long blocks, paint, and some glass.

Re: New Project "R" thread

Picked up a set of complete 03 Mach/Marauder heads this past week.
They will be going to Boss330 Racing for a full workover this next week.
(Full porting, cams and a full Boss330 valvetrain)
Slow progress being made.
Mostly accumulation of resource$.........................

Re: New Project "R" thread

Thanks.
So far, so good.
I did drive it around the block yesterday.
Ride quality and handling are good.
I won't go over 30-35, as there is still no windshield.
Gets kinda windy in there..................
Edit:
Just noticed 31,490 hits on this thread.
Geez!

Re: New Project "R" thread

Scored a brand new set of 2000 Cobra "R" engine mounts last week.
Pretty rare find.
Compared them to new Cobra / Mach 1 stockers,
and there is definitely a difference.
Motor will sit another 1/4" lower once I get them installed.
The 03 Marauder heads are destined for a visit to Boss330 racing soon.

What exactly does he do to the heads:
Port and polish
Cams
Springs
Values

I need to learn about this process.

BTW, nice writeup in in the January issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords .

All of the above plus probably bronze guides.
On the MM&FF, you saw that huh?

You could be right Bill.
I am still puzzled why not more folks have done this 5.4 32V swap.
Open the hood and it's ALL MOTOR.
Like Mr. P said, the motor will have some "snap" to it.

Re: New Project "R" thread

Birdman, first this project is awesome! Great job man. One quick question for you, what outfit did you purchase the "Cobra R" hood from for the "R"?

You can get them from almost any motorsport dealer, any aftermarket hood company, or did you want an authentic one?????

Re: New Project "R" thread

I was just wondering which company/supplier birdman purchased it from. I realize they are very common. Also is that the stock height or is it an inchh or two taller than a stock cobra R hood. It just looks a bit taller than the stock "R" hood, maybe cause it is not painted yet. Again was just curious about it......

Re: New Project "R" thread

The hood is genuine FRPP,
which I purchased from Joe Charles (reg. member Itlrun).
The motor setup WILL fit under a stock GT hood scoop,
and easily under a Mach 1 hood.
Would have to fab a shaker bracket though.

Re: New Project "R" thread

Thanks for the info Birdman, it is appreciated. Since I sold the Mach, I am REALLY in need of a new toy. I picked up a Teskid block, Cobra crank and a pair of complete, new, '03 Cobra heads. The project has started slowly, but it is underway. Take care, and again the "R" is BADAZZ!
