Getting a new receiver for the Mach.
I know a lot of you have changed out the radio in your cars and I'm wondering which receiver you guys think works the best for about $700 or less?

Re: Getting a new receiver for the Mach.
$700 will get you a stupid receiver nowadays. I bought the pioneer deh 80prs and it's a bad mofo. Was only like $250 on Amazon. Supposed to be the best thing less than $1k. Head units don't cost what they used to..

Re: Getting a new receiver for the Mach.
That's good to know. I'd much rather spend $250 than $700 for a good head unit. Does anybody else have any other input?

Re: Getting a new receiver for the Mach.
Bought the Pioneer AVH-4200NEX for my Mach 1 a few months ago. It's a double din receiver with a 7" detachable touch screen. A little pricey though, I paid $600 for mine brand new. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible.

Re: Getting a new receiver for the Mach.
just for giggles, did a search in Amazon for "double din touchscreen receiver" and it brought back 87 pages of results - most likely any one of which fits in the Mustang's standard sized double din head unit compartment and most likely any one of which is in your price range.
a lot of brands I didn't recognize. me personally, would stick with something I'm familiar with like Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, (JVC on the lower end). pick the head unit that best fills your needs and aesthetically suits you and you won't go wrong. *side note: nobody under the age of 50 plays CDs anymore so you're not going to find one that holds 6 CDs at once. _ |

Re: Getting a new receiver for the Mach.
Hey now, I'm 30 and love my cd's. I bluetooth mostly when I'm in the Mach, but the audio quality is shlt compared to a cd. In my daily driver it's cd's 100% of the time. And when I really want to hear something, I let my turntable and LSTN headphones take me away. These poor kids today don't even know what music sounds like.

I'm going with this when I replace mine. Wanted to do it this year but not sure I'll get to it. I mainly stream music from Sirius and Slacker, or play music downloaded on my phone. Plus you can use other apps on your phone as well. This thing will kick ***. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MF9W0GU..._okEEzbH5MR2D4

Re: Getting a new receiver for the Mach.
my offspring uses earbuds to listen to music streamed to his phone... I cringed when we got in the car and he asked why the bass was turned up so high. but he has to have a speaker tower on the TV to play video games.
nothing beats the pristine sound of a live symphony or opera. _ |
