what struts to use.
Well I am putting in a Tubular K-Member kit in my car. I want to know what type of strut everyone is using. I use my car as a daily driver. But week-ends it does see the track. Any help would be great..
Thanks! fredfred

Re: what struts to use.
when you say 'track', maybe your response would be greater if you indicted the type of track.
Drag or Road Course - two completely different beasts.

Re: what struts to use.
For drag you want softer shocks. They allow for more 'squat' in the rear. More 'squat' means more weight on the rear and more traction. Not the same for auto-crossing, and it won't hug the corners as much, but it'll net you a better 60'. As to actual shocks I'm not sure. I went with Koni's, however that was for road coarse. What was the reason for going to a k-member and coil-overs for a drag car? Weight? If I remember correctly the better k-member kits weight around 75lbs less than stock (including aftermarket control arms), which is .075 seconds going by the 100 lb's = .1 secs.

Re: what struts to use.
i just did lakewoods in the rear of my car and it hooks much harder
im doing my kmember really soon and im going to go with lakewood 90-10s and i do kinda daily my car but if you wanted to have good transfer at track and want it to do good for DD get the qa1s adjustable I used to have them on my old 03 cobra and i like them any adjustable shock will have the best of both worlds. what spring rate are you going with? |
