Re: College Football back in full swing!

Good news (and a deep sigh of relief) for all the Tiger Nation...sucks for WV, though.
Wonder if Satan will go to Atlanta (Falcons) now?

Congrats to WVU. Have a good friend that went to the game, she planned a week in Vegas after the game too. Im sure they will have a better time now. I did not think WVU would show up with the whole Rich Rod thing but they took OU out to the wood shed.

Did not get to catch the UF/Michigan game but man that one was a shocker when I saw the score on espn.

I am totally amazed at this game. I figured that Tech had the best draw of the weakest team in a BCS game. Kansas took it to Tech and looked like they got them really turned around in the first half. I was hoping Lewis was gonna kick butt cause he was my cousins roomate while with the Cincinnati Reds farm team in FL. Good kid.

Looking at what ACC schools have done in the bowl games, I think that it proves that this year, they were one of the weakest conferences. Like I said before, playing weak teams and winning doesn't mean you are a great team deserving of a high ranking (i.e. Hawaii, Tech)

SEC Roll on!!

Re: College Football back in full swing!

It occurred to me last night that not only was this is the wildest (most unpredictable) season I've ever seen in college football, but also that it isn't over yet. The bowl games have been just as unpredicatable. I never expected that Kansas would put the hurt on VT, nor did I expect Florida to lose, but the Georgia/Hawaii thing was pretty much a given. It makes me worry about what to expect next Monday night when LSU goes to it's default home stadium to play Ohio State? No way I could afford a ticket, those are going for $1,000+ for the cheap seats, so I guess I'll have to suffer in the comfort of my own couch...darn.

I agree, all the talk is about LSU. Not many pundits give OSU a chance (Like Michigan, WVA & Kansas) so that would worry me.

I really thought that Tech would roll Kansas with it's defense scoring a couple of touchdowns. Give Kansas credit, coach had a great game plan and really understood what Tech was planning on doing defensively. Also, the game was won by the side of the ball few talked about.... Kansas defense against Tech offense.

Our OC is an idiot. We needed to just do some old fashion smash mouth football. Our best drive of the night was running Ore 11 times, avg 5 yrds carry and ended with a touchdown. We tried to be too cute on O and it killed us

That was def a great game for WVU's program, I hope they can live up to it next year. It was very exciting to watch as a WV native, I was still biting my nails until about 5 mins left to go.....

Boy, I tell you what I agree with Coach Stoops we were out coached and out played. I don't know what it is about OU here lately seems like when the big games get here they are getting the "Choke Factor" down pretty good.

Hope you had a "Happy New Year"

Re: College Football back in full swing!

For all you Buckeye Naisayers, I wouldn't get to arrogant and cocky in your assessment of how some of you feel this is going to be a walk in the park for your high and mighty Tigers. Sure, they are a good team. Sure they should be the favorite. Sure they may very well win this game. Not to mention the home atmosphere they are going to enjoy. But some of you forget that they have lost two games and pulled a rabbit out of there helmets in a few other games. They are not an invinsible team.

However, Ohio State is a very good team that was suppose to be in a "rebuilding year". They have an excellent coach in Jim Tressel who other than last year has a very good record in bowl games. They have a very good offense and a very good defense. This is not a slow of foot team that has no speed. I will admit the schedule was easy and the Big Ten was not that good this year. But Ohio State I believe is going to surprise most of the country.

With that said, my prediction. LSU 24 OSU 21 (I hope I'm wrong).

Good luck Tiger fans.

Predicting defeat ??????

At least you can admit it already. I don't think OSU will get 3 TDs. Our defense at full strength is going to look like it did at the beginning of the year. For those that don't remember that far, 7 points total allowed in 3 games against Miss State (surprised everyone by making a bowl), VT (not sure how worthwhile that was, but we'll take it), and Middle Tenn (put 44 up the week prior).

The only aspect of the game I'm worried about is our special teams coverage on kick offs and punts. We've allowed too many big returns this year, and we all saw the first play from last year's title game.

I'm looking forward to it, getting ready to head down to the Big Easy right now as a matter of fact.

Ill take that bet of five wins in 08, how much do you want to put on it. I would go pink slips on that one.

Less than 22 hours to kickoff...and it's like Christmas part II in these parts. They're partying in N.O. like it's Mardi Gras (I'm sure we'll hear from LNCHBOX when he recovers), and it really gonna be funny when LSU takes another trophy and all the wah-wahs want to say that _______ (fill in the blank) should be #1 and Nat'l Champs. We didn't ask to be here. Yes, we had two losses. Two other teams had the misfortune of losing at the wrong time (for them) and other very good teams had bad runs during the year. We're at the big dance. We got the invitation fair and square, so either celebrate with us, or STFU...

Re: College Football back in full swing!

If I could have had Monday off, I'd be down there with you. The local TV stations have been showing all of the goings on; partys, fan day, partys, and still more partys. I know soooo many people that don't have tickets, but are going down there just to be there. A Mach 1 showing there would be awesome!
For now, LSU's goin' to the 'Ship!!!
(And for everyone in the north, it'll be about 75 degrees today! )
