Replacing my Mach 1

So......

Mach 1 was totaled by water. What would i buy to replace it?

Thought about putting the insurance money into my old 5.0. But there's really no one here in the fl. panhandle that I would trust to install a new motor or rebuild the current one and upgrade the trans, drive train and rearend. Just limited in what there is around here.

New body style just hasn't grown on me, so I started looking for a '13 or '14 5.0. Searched dealers from Tallahassee to Dothan to Pensacola. Autotrader, AutoMall, Carfax, CarMax, Autonation. Either too much (for what I wanted to pay) or too many miles.

Hmmm...... what are my alternatives? Taurus SHO....maybe. A little expensive, but doable. Again, could not find the right one - the right combo of price and mileage.

Keep looking

In Tampa last weekend. Option 3 .... Found 2 of these, one silver and the other Burgundy Velvet .... I went with the Burgundy:

2017 Ford Fusion Sport - 20k miles. I really like this car. In Sport mode, it's a lot of fun. No mods for awhile, just enjoying it as is:

I named her Farrah. She's quicker than Maria Mach was (even with cold air, catback and 4:10s .)

Thought about another Mach....

Found one in Tampa - Torch Red. No stripes, musta been re-painted. Considered it, but something wasn't right.

Plan to move back to Pa. in about a year. AWD on the Fusion might come in handy.

True, being a transplant from Long Island and having rear wheel drive mustangs for 30 years, PA gets a lot of crazy weather, AWD would be nice, I have a 4x4 HEMI and sometimes around Texas we get snow and I just flip a switch and it’s in 4x4, anyways good luck in your search and happy Holidays to you and your family.

Re: Replacing my Mach 1

I would get another Mach. They are really reasonably priced.
I just grabbed one after selling my 9X,000 mile black one. Merely upgraded to a cleaner piece.
And very happy about it.
Still have the one I bought brand new 16 years +\- ago

Re: Replacing my Mach 1

That's a sharp color. I haven't driven a Sport yet but haven driven F-150s with the 3.5 and Fusions with 2.0, it has to be a blast. How are the shifts with the paddle shifters? Fords have typically been slow and lazy. Drove a friend's Explorer ST the other day and it's shifts were nice and crisp. Just curious which version the Fusion Sport has. Believe a Sport will be what replaces my current Fusion unless I find the right deal on a Charger RT AWD. Right now though still like the 07 too much to get rid of it.

What part of PA?

Re: Replacing my Mach 1

I have only driven the Fusion a little so far. Sometimes in Sport mode, and let it do it's thing, other times in Sport mode and use the paddle shifters. Either way, it seems first to second is a little slow, but shifts quicker after that and it gets up to speed rather quickly. Fun to Drive. In the shop right now getting some cosmetic items fixed that are still under warranty. Auto start was not working. Couple other minor things.

bris --- we hope to move back home - somewhere in or near Washington Pa./Washington County. May consider Beaver, Butler or Westmoreland counties too.
