WTB DSG hood

Does anyone have a used hood assembly. MPS had a DSG mach they were parting out with a straight hood, but by the time I called them someone had already beat me to it.

Worse case if I can not get a hood, whats the chances of having the old one repaired? It folded forwarded of the shaker and cracked in 5 places. I know fiber glass repair isnt cheap, but is it feasible or worth saving the original piece? That will be my ultimate and final option if I cant find another hood.

Re: WTB DSG hood

if you cant find an OEM hood I believe there are one or two makers of carbon fiber replacements, might be a better option than fixing your current hood

Re: WTB DSG hood

Yeah Ive seen the carbon fibre hoods. One of them is made by trufiber. But does anyone make an oem fiber glass remake?

Nothing wrong with carbon fiber, but wanted to keep the stock look if possible.

Re: WTB DSG hood

Not that I know of and you can paint the carbon fiber hood just the same as the fiberglass

Re: WTB DSG hood

I thought fiberglass could be painted. You have me wondering now. Isnt the OE hood fiberglass?

Re: WTB DSG hood

I dont want a carbon fiber hood even though it can be painted because admittedly, if I had anything carbon fiber I would want yo show it off lol. Plus with a carbon fiber hood I wouldnt have that signature mach 1 look with the center stripe.

And sadly I admit a light weight hood wouldnt serve me any real function driving on the street or anywhere with in my (unskilled) driving abilities lol.

Re: WTB DSG hood

i always figured if I got a CF hood I would leave the CF showing for the hood stripe.

Re: WTB DSG hood

Also would anyone happen to have a new rubber seal that goes around the shaker? Part number 3R3Z-16C884-AA. Mine is a little warped from the hood folding, but will try and make the old piece work if necessary.

A corner is creased and folded upwards. After removing the hood it sort of returned to its original shape but not fully. And I dont think I can reshape it anymore, it looks pretty set.

Re: WTB DSG hood

Car-parts.com is another place to find used hoods. I was in of one a couple months ago when my hood latch failed and hood flew up. Ripped the passenger bracket right out of the hood.
