Just like with the '05's, people will find a way around the different computer system to change the boost. Of course it'll void warranty but I don't think anyone will care when they make 600+ RWHP with a pulley and full bolt-on's

Re: Future Dodge Challenger FORD WAKE THE HECK UP!!!

Props to Dodge/MoPar/Mercedes for having the sac to come out with a 2dr, V8, RWD sport coupe...if indeed this Challenger goes into production. I think it's a risky move for any manufacturer to try and compete with the Ford Mustang and try to get a share of the 'pony car' market, but hey competition improves the breed, right?
The argument that Ford needs a SC to compete with other N/A American V8s is kinda mixed. Yes, as a Ford guy, I would like for the Blue Oval Boys to have an engine to be a LS/Hemi fighter (ie...a 400+hp V8 in the 6L range), but last I checked, '03-'04 Cobras are doing pretty well with a puny 4.6L SC motor under their hood...in fact, I doubt their is anything that can really touch those snakes on the street & strip from under $40,000...stock.
I think it's a tribute that a major manufacturer like Ford is offering SC/performance versions (equipped with all the required hardware like forged this and forged that) of vehicles that are directly aimed at the performance enthusiast in today's world. In the last few years we have had Ford Mustang Mach 1s, Mustang GTs, SVT Cobras, SVT Lightnings, Mauraders, and even a Ferrari Fighter...the Ford GT. And that's not even including the upcoming GT500. What has the compition done that even is near the price range of the above Fords (aside frm the GT)??
A GTO that has totally underachived in GM's eyes.
A 4dr Charger?
A Neon-based wannabe ricer?
A truck, car, retro, thing called a SSR??
And what happend to the famed LS F-bodies??
Aside from the 'Vette & the V-Series Caddys, there is nothing that GM or MoPar even offers that comes close to the bang for the buck cars that Ford has had recently.
I been critical of Ford from day one, but I recognize that they are doing more for keeping performance alive (for the average guy) then the compitition has.

I respect all performance cars and I would love to have a CTS-V, GTO, or even this new Challenger in my garage, but if we are talking about who is the best American manufacturer when it come to performance....well, I've got 4 letters for you.....F O R D!

I agree. You know what else people don't realize? Ford put a SUPERCHARGER on a motor. A SUPERCHARGER for crying out loud, and still get better gas mileage than those other automakers . Who else have done that. Think about it.... A SUPERCHARGER .

Ford is bada$$ when they want to be. Trust me, you don't want a horsepower war with Ford. Don't make them use a big block .

That and it kept on eating clutches. It was only a small group of bored engineers that made it happen...

The Challenger R/T would interest me if the traction control system could be turned all the way OFF

I agree with what Substanger said and a lot of what everyone has said so far.
A point.....What about the fact that were it not for Ford and the success of the mighty Mustang these last 42 years. Dodge and GM would not even be trying. I personally think Ford should be flattered.

I like the car from the front of the door back. The front of the car needs to be worked on a little more.

Re: Future Dodge Challenger FORD WAKE THE HECK UP!!!

my point wasn't about heritage, or legacy, or who sells more...it was about how pushrod V8s dominate.....and currently ford doesn't offer one...

in my opinion...it would be a perfect world to have a mustang GT with a 6.1 HEMI in it !!!!!!

like i said....supercharging, turbocharging....w/e...they are copouts for TRUE AMERICAN ENGINE BUILDING..

look at chevy's smallblock!?! 427 and the HEMIS

there is NO replacement for displacement......

and dont' get me wrong...i love my mach and my mustangs...i just wish they had comparible balls in the under the hood department!!!! i never ever want to see a mustang that is over 3400 lbs again either!!! get with it ford lol......3400 lbs or lighter and 375 hp minimum!!!

lol only dreams i guess

I agree that car is beautiful. I've never owned a Dodge nor knew anybody who has. How is their reliability compared to Ford's?

What are you talking about? TRUE AMERICAN ENGINE BUILDING is supercharging a motor also. Big motors = more money and more weight; more weight = a slower car. A slower car = a waste.

You said it yourself " 3400 lbs or lighter and 375 hp minimum!!!". What you don't understand is... Making Money. Right now Ford don't have to put a big motor in the Mustang. The Mustang is selling fine without a big motor.... you bought one.

If the Mustang sells' go down, they will step it up a little bit; just enough to keep you buying. With Ford this is a lifetime race not a 1/4 mile race. Right now Ford is winning the lifetime race with the Mustang. Chrysler is doing a fine job with the 300 and GM... what are they doing?

Remember, to us it is about 1/4 mile; to the automakers it is about making money .

Re: Future Dodge Challenger FORD WAKE THE HECK UP!!!

true true

lol i guess i'm just jealous that i didn't live through the muscle car age in the 60s and 70s.

i guess it will never EVER happen again....although it is sorta happening now...but not even close to back then... o well, i'll have to just read about it i guess!!!

but also, isnt' it true that our DOHC mach engines are exteriorly the same or close dimensions to big block fords of the 60s....i think if you look it up,,our exterior dimensions are close to the exterior dimensions of 428s and 427s etc

i guess that's cause of our extra camshafts etc...and huge heads!!!

lol i'd still rather have a pushrod with more displacement!!! (same size exteriorly as ours...but with more than 4.6 ltrs lol!!)

i'm just hoping for a n/a 5.4 in a stang sooner than later!!!

If Ford wants me to buy another Mustang, it better have a 5.4L, forged internals, and a bullet-proof / hydraulic clutch / 6 speed tranny. Anything less...and it's hello Challenger!!!

Nope, I will stay with Mustang, besides we have not seen any SE Mustangs yet. The heritage and bloodlines of the Mustang easily outshines that Challenger, (if it even gets built) Wait till we see a new Mach, Boss, Bullitt...this is besides what SVT will do. I am not so easy to jump ship, whats wrong with you guys lately?

Re: Future Dodge Challenger FORD WAKE THE HECK UP!!!

Yeah... What is wrong with you guys? Cars are like women. A new one come out every year. You can't afford to have all of them. Can you? If not, get you a good one and stick it... I mean stick her... I mean stick with it .

Some come with big blocks and some come with small blocks. Some come with plush seats and some come with flat seats... I mean not so plush seats .

Some come with room in the back and some are tight in the back... I mean not enough room in the back. Some are strokers and some are bored out. Some need to be sprayed(wet system)... I mean nos and some need to be blown... I mean Supercharged. I think you get the picture .
