My tranny just split wide open - 2003-04 Mach 1 Registry Owners Club

Well while driving home from work today my tranny decided to split on me.
By this i mean there is a 1" gap in the rear housing of the tranny...

O look i have 37000 miles on my car with no extended warranty greeeeeat.My driveshaft broke from the front(ujoint) and is now stuck between my exhuast and the bottom of my car(it beat the crap out of my exhuast). Fluid everywhere. And the yoke is still in the tranny

The bad part of the whole thing is that i had my car at automax 2 times with a tranny leak and they coudnt find any thing while i was under warranty.

I'd take it back to the dealer and ***** bloody murder for a warranty claim. Being that it's that close to the warranty period, the dealer should be able to do something about it. I've had vehicles that have broken just out of warranty and with enough 'pursuasion' the dealerships have covered it.

Ford has several After warranty adjustment programs.
PO5, PO1, PO3
They might fix it for you under one of those programs.
It is up to the dealership's discretion.

do you have upper and lower control arms installed? i know if the pinion angle is off by a good margin this will happen. did oyu feel a vibration before it broke? i use to have a problem with my hot rod truck that is lowered and when i was at about 70 it would start to vibrate and just wondering what it was i speed up and "snap". heheh and i got a 1" crack around the bellmouth and it wiped out the rear trans mount, broke the diveshaft, and smashed the crap out of the flows under neath.
this happended a few times " i know" but i didnt think it was the angle. but after the 3rd time i had to pay some one to really look in to it cuase it was cheaper to fix it than replace everything. and i ended up shimming the rear end up like 13 degrees. yeah . so you should have felt something before that thing broke for sure. so if oyu have lowers and uppers i would have those looked at before takein it to ford cause they can say that those parts not installed correctly "will cause damage" and if they can prove that the part caused the damage they wont pay for it. check out the other part of the forum that discusses this.

As far as the suspension, Im not sure what all is done to the car. I bought it with the lakewood suspension already on it. Yeah i felt a slight vibration but nothing to major(or so i thought) Its had this vibration since i bought it from them. They looked at the car many times and said it had to be the gears, And that i had nothing to worry about.Im not sure if the link will work. B/C i suck at the internet.

Mind if I ask why you didn't take it back to a Ford dealership, instead of where you bought it. BTW - If whomever you took it to said it was fine after several 'inspections' and this happens. They are liable.

Automax is where i purchased the car and that's who's taking care of the claim.(Hopefully)

What was the start mileage for the warranty. Some cars have over 100 on the clock at purchase.

It was purchased used. It had 24000 On it when i bought it. The car was supposed to be certified pre- owned with a 110 point inspection. I had to replace the clutch just a couple of months after i got it. They have done warranty work on the tranny before, they replaced the snchro's twice in it within a few months of me having the car. And after the last time they "fixed" it, It has had a slow tranny leak. Maybe a hair line crack, maybe not. I took it to them twice to get the leak fixed and they told me it was the shifter.
