Hood scoop question

Has anyone here mounted there hoodscoop to the hood so when the hood is shut it looks stock but when you raise the hood scoop goes up with it? I know it’s a strange question but I have a D1 and the scoop doesn’t seal properly with the hood when it’s shut anytime it rains or I wash the car I get water in my engine. Would like to keep the water out. I will also be covering the vent in front of scoop. Thnx.

Re: Hood scoop question

I had a D1 on my car and kept the hood scoop attached to the motor with no water issues. It shouldn't be a problem so take a closer look. Maybe that gasket is bad??

Otherwise, yes. There were a few guys that mounted them to the hood and it looked nice. I'm not aware of how they did it but I'm certain a search on the site will net a few threads.

Re: Hood scoop question

I just saw pictures of an Azure Blue Mach 1 maybe on the FB page that had the scoop mounted to the hood with some aluminum brackets. Might be home made/DIY but it looked pretty good.
Good luck

Re: Hood scoop question

If the shaker scoop isn't make a reasonable seal against the hood, try raising it up a bit until it is.

The scoop height is adjustable. There is a tip here (Tip #1), http://www.mach1registry.com/shaker/

There is also a video to explain how (about 3 min into it, skipping the stuff about the over spray paint), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymAUQgpsJF0
