Running slicks on stock axels

Should I be worried? Car has 4.10s and boltons, will I break anything? I only plan on making 3-4 passes but I also plan on side stepping it at 5k. Suspension is bone stock besides some eibach pro kit lowering springs

Re: Running slicks on stock axels

If you insist on launching at a high RPM, slicks will be better then DR's.

Street tires would be safest, but least performing.

Slicks are usually easier on the rear if comparing to DR's. (generally)

Either way, you are on borrowed time. Could break the first time, could last years.

Slipping out the clutch (hard on clutch) from a high rpm would probably produce the best results on either slick or DR as far as "not breaking" is concerned.

Before the flames from beneth hit this thread I will say that you may be fine and you may be doomed. Pure chance if they break or hold up. It depends on the weather, the track condtions and how aggressive you are on the start line.
Since you are asking this question you in fact have doubts!

Good luck at the track and if you require a pair of Moser 28 spline axles I have some sitting here that I took out as I am running slicks and went with a 31 Moser setup! Good luck!

You WILL break something, don't fool yourself into a false sense of security. It may not happen right away, but the time will come and probably end up being sooner rather than later. Especially if you bog that bastard coming off the line.

So you're saying launch at 6k so I don't bog?

Not necessarily. Keep the pressure up on the slicks and you stand a better chance. You want a little wheel spin if possible so that you don't shock that rear too bad. Thankfully the taller side walls of the slicks do shock the drive line less than a short wall on a drag radial.

Re: Running slicks on stock axels

It all depends on your launch, as stated above.

I just decided to upgrade to the Moser 31-spline setup instead of wondering if
