Granatelli Coil on Plug Observations with pics
Bought them over a month ago from Mustang Tuning for my 01 blown Cobra. Got them fairly quickly but they were the incorrect ones. They had the hold down wing and were for a GT. They (MT) immediately sent me a new correct set and gave me 2 weeks to return the wrong ones. I was happy with their customer service. It appeared the mistake lay with Granatelli putting the wrong stuff in the box they sold, and in fact about 2 weeks later I received the machined aluminum spacers directly from Granatelli to apologize for any inconvenience. Class act.
I did not realize that I had to swap the connector pins for the Granatelli COP's until I actually received the COP's. I thought that was a bit deceptive as the web page stated "direct replacement". I must be a dolt as I could not figure out how to do it without destroying something. I posted on several forums including this one but received no help beyond "it's so easy but hard to explain". Finally went to local Ford dealership and talked with a mechanic who told me how to do it. An hour later everything was installed. I was able to widen the plugs from .032 to .045 with no blowout at 7000rpm. It is more resonsive throughout the driving range. I am getting about 1 more mpg. I had to remove the Plasma Ignitions or I had blowout. No dyno runs yet. Is it worth 500 bucks? Depends on your value system. For me it was the only area left that no one had done anything for and with no kids or wife to raid my wallet it was an easy decision.

Re: Granatelli Coil on Plg Observations
Interesting.
Did you replace all 8 coils (complete), or just parts of them? Any pics of the new parts?

Re: Granatelli Coil on Plug Observations
Thanks for posting this. I read the article about the coil packs in the latest issue of 5.0 Magazine. They tested a blown '04 GT (I think) and got around 15 hp out of them. I wonder how good they work with an N/A motor that needs to rev above 7k???
