Re: So what stock stuff has broken on your Mach this year?

Well I bought my 2003 Azure Blue Mach 1 in November of 2016.
Car came from Delaware and initially I only found a very small "bubble" of rust under the Mach 1 stripe on the driver side 1/4 in front of the rear tire.
1 year later and this is now the size of a quarter and an actual hole.

So I am talking to my local paint guy about cutting that portion of the car out and welding in a new section. Then I plan to strip the entire car down and repaint it.

I can do alot of mechanical stuff to the car (and have) but this type of body repair and paint work is out of my skillset.

Re: So what stock stuff has broken on your Mach this year?

Sat in the car a few weeks back and found the insert in the door panel at the arm rest area, is cracked...So put that one on the list...

My list of things i want to replace...

1.) Driver door insert
2.) Carpet, small hole where the floor mat hook used to reside.
3.) Headliner (my son found an edge a few year ago and pulled)
4.) Headlights, pitted, and some other issues
5.) full trunk interior trim pieces
6.) Steering wheel (normal wear)
7.) Driver Seat cover (normal wear)

I did the cowl vent top panel this year.

How difficult is the cowl? I'm doing a stock replacement rather than the two piece thats out there. It's high on the list.

Re: So what stock stuff has broken on your Mach this year?

It was not bad. I got the oem piece rather than the aftermarket versions. just took my time, followed the instructions. Mine had cracked on the passenger side so the original came off pretty easy.

I had to remove the door pillars on each side when I did mine. Did you have to do that? I was afraid the new one would break if I tried to force it under the fender. Removing the pillars seemed like it would make it easier.

I bought and replaced a Ford OEM cowl panel as well this past year. The old one was faded bad. The old one cracked when taking it out. The new one went in rather easy with a little fanagling. Glad I changed it made a big difference in my eyes.
I've also replaced the under hood felt with the felt from a GT. I just used the old felt to outline and cut out the GT felt to make it work. Looks great, don't think you could tell unless I told you. I also picked up a new OEM shaker scoop and rubber hood seal. I need the new rubber seal as mine is sagging on the passenger side front and water drips on the motor. Don't really need the scoop but had to purchase them together.

I remember seeing an OEM rubber seal, new in the package, on eBay a few years back. I wish I had bought it then lol. If there is any new ones for sale now, they’ll surely cost an arm & leg.

had to loosen them if memory serves. did not have to remove them just loosen enough to work around. if i recall it was one screw/bolt.
very simple and no drama at all...

Re: So what stock stuff has broken on your Mach this year?

It was a good year. Everything still going strong. Low mileage, a comfy garage, and a WRX to handle the bad weather days has really helped.
