Windshield Wiper making noise (help)

I put my wipers on for only the second time in 10 years today (last year was the first) and they worked but made a noise. An electric motor noise not grinding. At first I thought is was coming throught the radio.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Can you lube the motor?

Can they go bad from lack of use?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Windshield Wiper making noise (help)

I would turn the key to the on position and turn the wipers on. Put a ear close to the windshield and try to pinpoint the sound. It may be just from lack of use. Maybe they are fine you just are not used to hearing them.

You can't lube the motor to my knowledge. You may be able to apply grease to the linkage joints.
