Anyone ever build up a convertible "mock 1"?
Has anyone ever built up a vert using Mach parts?
Somewhat interesting prospect opened itself to me. Our son is getting ready to deploy again to the Med/Middle East right after Christmas. He is dropping his 00 5 speed GT Vert off at home and just keeping and leaving his Jeep in Norfolk where his boat is homeported. He wants to get rid of the GT and is looking for 3K for it. Its a 00 triple black vert, somewhat sailorized, a little beat and he bought it from an RN exchange squid so its been "around". Kind of kicking around the idea of buying it from him as a project but, going a quasi-"mock 1" look? I have been hording some NOS Mach parts since 03 (you never now) and it doesnt seem to hard to get other take off's etc from wrecks or the such. I searched the forum but cant find anything. I remember years ago there was a pic on this forum of some converts which were mock-ized. I dont know but, I think a mock ized convert using the 69 style mid door style stripes would be kind of cool??? Does anyone remember those or know where pics of the ones that were done were? |

I saw a guy a few years back with a silver Gt Conv mach 1 clone. He had the the mach rims, rocker stripes, CDC shaker scoop and light bar. actually looked pretty nice.He was bummed when he tried to run me.

Here is a photo of the 2004 Vert GT Mach I had before trading for a 2004 Black Mach. I do miss the Vert, but the Mach is the better of the two.

Re: Anyone ever build up a convertible "mock 1"?
There is one in eastern La. that was sold on ebay sometime ago and discussed here earlier. I went over it pretty well and the guy did a great job of transfering everything unique to a Mach 1 to the 6 cyl. vert for its transformation. He even went to the trouble of having the rear seats done in the correct material. When I told him there was one thign that stool out as wrong on the car it drove him nuts. He had done the car with the IUP package and forgot the silver door lock soldiers. It was Sonic Blue, and looked good in that color. I wish Ford had offered the Mach in that color.

There was a AB one at Mustang week. Was very nicely done. It's build was documented on here if you do a search.

Re: Anyone ever build up a convertible "mock 1"?
Man!!! If you do decide to go thru with it, PLEASE post up pics!!!! I soooo wanted to do this to my old '02 GT vert, but we ended up trading it in back in '07 for a Ford Five Hundred. It's a really nice and decent family car, but my wife still wants to kick my @$$ for letting her go thru with the trade! LoL
