Houston...... We have a big...big problem

I copied this from my earlier post. I started off just looking at the cost of a new motor, by the end of the day I need a new motor

Original thread post-- Well she died today, RIP, noise got terrible then it turned off. Got it restarted and had faint smoke coming from the top of the engine, centered, back by the firewall. I'm going to pull the plugs and hopefully do a compression test. What a time a year for this. Thanks everyone for your continued support.

Re: Houston...... We have a big...big problem

Oh shiit....i read your post earlier this morning. kinda hoped you'd get the next one lined up before this one let go on ya. go for a crate engine from Ford unless you are absolutely sure of an engine builder. been alot of us get screwed by people who claim to know what the F they are doing when they really don't. Good luck bro.

Re: Houston...... We have a big...big problem

comp test, ive never really had to test one, the last head gasket i had blow it was puffing coolent out through the tail pipes, so it was kinda a no brainer. since your in houston there are lots of great engine builders, id recomend houston performance in tomball or psi in webster.

Re: Houston...... We have a big...big problem

Thanks guys again. I of course can't sleep, my brain seems in thought for some reason....haha

Head gasket?-- would any wicked noise be associated with that prior to the smoke? I didn't see the smoke till after I got it towed home and tried starting it again.

Re: Houston...... We have a big...big problem

when i blew the head gasket on my 390 it blew up like a bad detonation then gurrled like a jake brake, or a fast decel in a mustang with a catless x pipe. mod motors are pretty stout, my buddy phil had 161k when his head gasket blew on his 98 cobra, a 75 shot caused it too. lol

Re: Houston...... We have a big...big problem

that's a n/a 10:1 engine but it's got the good internals. basically can't run as much boost on pump gas as the lower compression ones.

I believe the s/c and n/a are the same price. If they are different, it will not be much. The only difference I know between the two is the pistons and timing covers.

Re: Houston...... We have a big...big problem

look at the guys mods. he just needs a head gasket or a simple rebuild. unless he has a mod addiction like we do.
