Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
We've been to Vegas & The Grand Canyon and love each of them, but I think we want to hit up some new spots. I was thinking maybe northern CA via HWY 101 on through the Redwoods National Park up through Oregon and maybe even onto Seattle if we could do all of it in 5-6 days?

Vegas is alright if your into that type of thing. Maybe if I had more money to go to more of the shows instead of the casinos. Rather go visit the grand canyon and the hoover dam. Have some really great backgrounds. |

Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
The Sea-Tac area is good. I'd go up to a place called Levenworth (not the military jail), and stay a day or two. It's an old German railway town that has been redone with all of the architecture being German, all if not most of the residents are German as are the shops and eateries. We stayed at a B&B nearby and had a great time. It's a short drive from Seattle, which is a city that offeres much to see and do. New Orleans is a pretty cool place, as is Vegas. And there's always Orlando as well.

Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
It really depends on what you are interested in doing and how much you are willing to spend...looking for history, quiet scenic places, nightlife, beach, etc. Time of year is also important so that you can catch the local festivities.
Screech mentioned a good trip that would fill up an entire week and wouldn't cost that much. My personal favorite is in Alaska during the Midnight Sun Festival. Talk about losing track of time. |

Places in the US I'd like to see and haven't been to yet;
If you haven't been to The Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise, I would recommend that. Go for at least from Wednesday to Sunday.

If you go to Yosemite don't forget Yellowstone and possibly the Grand Canyon too.

I went to D.C. over the summer and went to the Museums. I had a blast and would do it again! Good times and fun stuff to see!

Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
Being from a small town in IN, going to NYC was absolutely incredible. I couldn't stop looking up and Times Square is amazing. I went to Maui on my honeymoon earlier this spring. It was stunning. The road to Hana is an adventure in itself. The water is crystal clear and you don't have the crowded areas like you do if you were to go to Oahu. We took a plane over to Oahu for a day to tour Honolulu and see Pearl Harbor. Both trips were well worth the money.

Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
Alaska & Hawaii are probably out due to budget constraints I'd like to keep it under $3000 max. Maybe I can use some of my NWA miles to help with a flight if necessary...
Great suggestions so far, please keep them coming.

Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
If you like to hike and see a lot of beautiful country. The Palm Springs area. Particularly Joshua Tree Natonal Park and the Palm Canyons. Any place in Arizona. From the Grand Canyon, to Sedona's red rock area and Tubac, south of Tucson. Summer time western South Dakota, the Black Hills and the Badlands with a short drive up to Wyoming for Devils Tower. Southern Utah is unbelievable. City wise the Sea-Tac area is great. From downtown to the harbor. Just for pleasure, South Miami and Mrytle Beach were fun. We are hikers so most of our destinations are national parks.

Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
You can take a trek down from the southern tip of Florida down to Key West. I've never done it myself but a good friend has, he says it is a great trip as long as you allot yourself enough time. We all know it is no fun being rushed during a vacation.

Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
Key West was going to be my suggestion as well. Call ahead and do a fishing trip for a day. Perhaps some diving.
I'd like to go to New York as well. See all the sights. Visit Ed Sullivan Studios. Just hang on to your wife. I heard the guy leasing the lot likes da women. |

Re: Top 10 places to visit in the US?
The Keys are nice, Key West is pretty touristy but the drive down is beautiful but make sure that you leave enough time. From Florida City to KW is around 3 1/2 to 4 hours one way.
Maybe its because I live here but I wouldn't put Orlando in the top 10 places to visit. Granted most of the locals try to stay away from the tourist areas like the plague. I haven't been to Disney in probably 12 years. If you have kids they I would say its worth the trip, if you don't wait until you do. I would recommend the Smokey Mountain National Forest in East TN/West NC. If you like the outdoors and nature it is beautiful, just visit in the off season since it can get pretty busy.
