Could be those pesky little louisiana Gators that take away BCS dreams

C'mon down and I'll show you where those 'little' gators live. Not too far from my house, and always hungry!

Re: College Football back in full swing!

We have plenty of gators where I am at, the extension of base housing here sits right in front of the river and they will come through housing to say hello from time to time

Re: College Football back in full swing!

We have a swamp not far from here, and there is an excellent Cajun eatery called Boutins. They have a back porch that overlooks the swamp and it's fun to look out while you're eating and see the occasional 'gator lazily drift by. Just don't try to get too close!

Re: College Football back in full swing!

Not too surprising day for most of the top teams, although Oregon at least has its hands full and Georgia made Auburn play tough.
I can't believe I'm going to root for Alabama in the Iron Bowl in two weeks!?!
And then root for Spurrier in the SEC Championship game...

Re: College Football back in full swing!

Terps win Big, over Virginia.
3 way tie for first place with ( N.C. St.- Fl. St. )
Fl. St. this week at home, then N.C. St. is next.
Only 2 wins last year, this is so much better.

Re: College Football back in full swing!

Wow! 35 bowl games in 24 days. Only 6 or 7 are important. Why do they play the National Championship game on Jan 10th? What happened to finishing on New Years Day?

Re: College Football back in full swing!

It's gotten so rediculous. The Bowl games start in the 3rd week of December and take 3 weeks to finish. I remember when the Bowl games were all played between Dec.28th-Jan. 1st. . I can't complain about them too much though. I won about $300 last year in Bowl game Pools.

Big Ron

Fixed.

The bowl games are a joke. They are all about tv money and making a bunch of old men feel important.

Take my team Florida, for instance. They got a much better bowl game than most thought they deserved against Penn State. Why? Because Gator fans will fill the stadium up and spend tons of money. If you ask me, Florida deserves to be sitiing their sorry a$$es in Gainesville practicing for the 2011 season that day.

A team who's best win came against a 6-6 team?

A bowl game?

Really?

And if they find a way to score more than six or seven points and actually win, will they boast about being Outback Bowl champions? I didn't think so.

But the really important thing is that the school will get the money, the hotels will get the money, the city will get the money the restaurants will get the money, the t-shirt vendors will get the money, the networks will get the money, and the kids who face permanent injury on every play will get a nice gift bag and a tour of the city.

Re: College Football back in full swing!

I hear you. The lowly Baylor Bears are going to a bowl game (200 miles away) for the first time in 16 years. They are all excited. Payout is $600,000. All the other bowls pay like $1.0 - 2.5 million.

They lost 3 of their last 4 games by an average of 3 touchdowns.

The only thing they did was beat UT. But so did everyone else.

They can't even fill up a 40,000 seat stadium with free tickets to Ft Hood!

Re: College Football back in full swing!

Besides the obvious Oregon vs Auburn battle I'm waiting for the Texas A&M vs LSU (Cotton Bowl) game .
Also the Ohio State vs Arkansas ( Sugar Bowl) game :ORANGE:.

Somehow the Rose Bowl game with TCU and Wisconsin doesn't seem to have a ring to it like in years past.

Re: College Football back in full swing!

Now that the games arnt played on New Years Day, I don't care.
One of my fav. days in sports was New Years Day, watching the games ALL DAY. At the end of the day, the season was over and you had a National Champion.

NCAA says, Can't have play-offs cause it would take to long, but what is the diff. in the way they have these games now. Last game Jan. 10th.

sorry.

If you look on espn the tcu game only has 5xxx comments vs. The Arkansas game with 2x,xxx comments and it has lower ranked teams playing. It just seems to be one of those games people want to see.
