Shocks and Strut suggestions.

Its me again...Impulse buying...Why because as you may have read previous posts from me...I am re-doing the back end axles and gears....

Well we are at that pivotal moment of "Well the back end is going to be off...Might as well replace the shocks..."

Furthermore...Why not try to find a deal on a set of shocks and struts and do the front also.

Shock and strut performance is one of my weaker areas, so all of the different shocks and struts that are out there are greek to me. The only thing that I can really see the difference in them is the price.

I found these shocks on rock auto:
Clicky Clicky

I live in Central Illinois and drive the Mach as my daily driver when the weather cooperates...Having said that, I do take it to the track a few times a year and do heavy pulls when a Dbag in a Honda pulls up next to me...Ok so I guess it is not a heavy pull when a Honda pulls next to me....hahahahaha....sorry

Anyways...Do you know if the shocks that I linked are of decent enough quality for what I am using it for...If not...What are some suggestions that you would have.

Thanks in Advance,
Curtis

PM sent...

I guess that is another question that I need to do a little research on. However am still pretty green on the benefits between adjustable or non adjustable shocks and struts.

Any advice you can give me on that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Curtis

You don't want the ones Im putting on for daily driving. I have viking DAs in the back and putting viking dual adjustable struts up front. They are very high quality and a great price considering they are DA aluminum bodied shocks and struts but a full set will run in the 1200-1300 range.

I would do $250 shipped on the takicos. One is missing a bit of paint from a brake line leak. I believe they retail for 500 or so.

No worries ASh...I ended up pulling the trigger on a set of Koni STR-T Oranges. I just couldn't get to the point to spend the extra money for the Yellow adjustable ones as I don't see myself getting to a track enough to warrant the extra money.

Plus the Oranges were on sale for a pretty good price for both shocks and struts...Decided to pull the trigger on some SR lowering coils as well...

My wife is going to kill me...lol...

And btw...I sent you a PM on the rear axle bushings as well.

Thanks,
Curtis

sent one back, thanks again
yes I've looked at the orange ones also and saw the sell you were also looking at and almost did the same thing, but my wife won't kill me on this one, lol because I did not click the button.
Going to be a change in your suspension and the way it feels, as I learned with dropping the ride, your going to need to grab you some adj uca to make sure the angle is set correctly with it being lowered. CHE offers some really nice one and have a 10% discount and free shipping, think I got mine for $144 shipped. I'll get the link so you can see mine that I got.

And since learning about the 5% discount code from M1R....I have already saved a couple hundred dollars...lol...Car parts are expensive.

thanks for the kind words and that is amazing story with getting your dad's mach. RIP
again there is a great group here with much experience and so much more than I, TKat13 helped me out big time when I did my K-member and he laughed at me, because I was having the same problems as he did. fun times

enjoy the new parts when you get them on, if you need help post up, springs are not that bad and the plus side is that you are going to have to disconnect the shocks and struts to do your springs so that makes it a lot better doing a one shot/ one kill type install

I just put those on my wives daily driver mach after HR Sports, and Tokico blues. Alignment shop had no problem with them after they could get the car on the rack as it was too low at a couple places.

Re: Shocks and Strut suggestions.

Yeah the wife started driving it daily this week. Also took a 40 minute drive the other day in it. Wow. Completely different car now. Exhaust sounds good with only a slight drone at certain RPMs. The handling is ridiculous. it stays planted through the corners and has almost no body roll. There is definitely a difference in the power. much better now and is where I would expect it to be at. Still a little lag from it being an automatic, but when it gets tuned that will get changed.

Highly recommend the HR Sport springs and Tookico HP series for a daily driver.

glad to hear,
is your black GT a auto or manual?
I remember adding to the mach H&R SS springs, MM CCplates, Steeda bumpsteer kit and X2 balljoints, what a change in the way it handle. would have been nice to have switched to a better shocked and strut at the same time. I kind of experience this with the Cobra after all the stuff went on, which the previous owner had Eibach Pro Kit and Monroe sensa trac shocks and struts already on the car.
Big suspension upgrade at a small cost for the part was the steeda adj rear sway bar, that thing was amazing how different it made the car feel and SFC's is another one that made a big diff on the Mach when I did Steeda and on the 02 Trans Am when I did BMR.

Re: Shocks and Strut suggestions.

OP, you should be happy with the Konis. I have the adjustable ones and am very happy with them. Haven't even adjusted them yet. Next autocross event, I'm gonna set them for full firm and see what happens.

Consider getting some weld in full length subframe connectors. They make a huge difference in handling. I'm adding the jacking rails in the next month or two to further stiffen the body and save the pinch weld.

Black GT is a manual.

Consider getting some weld in full length subframe connectors. They make a huge difference in handling. I'm adding the jacking rails in the next month or two to further stiffen the body and save the pinch weld.
Thanks for the suggestion...I will add that to the list of potential upgrades word document that I have going on...I think that once I get these on, along with the SR Performance lowering springs that I got...My next suspension upgrade will be some sway bars...Im not sure yet just because I really want to get a new set of rims also...

So Many choices...Maybe I should start a go fund me campaign...bahahahahah
