Don't know if this is a repost or not. Thought it was pretty cool.

Re: Mustang stolen in 1974 is finally recovered!

Once before that i know of but get this
in the prior case

the car was stolen years ago
then it was revined or what ever thiefs do to make a stolen car legit

the car lived its life ect.......

then after a complete restoration a problem was found at the DMV and the car was indeed stolen and then returned to the rightful owner

the poor schmuck that just laid out his cash for the resto was screwed !

So here is the lesson if you ever buy an old car to restore before you put the money into the car make SURE the title history is legit !

so I wonder if the former insurance company will get some payment back, if this car was stolen and paid out?

I wonder if they will find my leather coat stolen out of my '93GT in 1996? The coat was black.

No, it just had the 4 metal zippers. It was a heavy coat. I bet it weighed 7lbs.

I'm happy to see he got it back restored. But, of course the wrong guy gets BURNED.

So what happens to the guy that restored it? If he replaced fenders, hood, interior, etc. Doesnt that make the new fenders and interior the other guys? Im not too sure how I would ve acted if I had just spent $20k on the car only to find out it was going to go to someone else. Especially, if it was bought and I had a title.

They wouldnt have just taken my car. I see lawyers, court dates, etc.

The way I read the article, the orginal owner restored it once he got it back.

"He (Klunder) was so happy that he (Klunder) had it painstakingly restored to original condition."

"Gomez told Klunder's wife that the car had been found. It was 2009."

"The Mustang went through a complete restoration. Klunder just got it back two weeks ago."

That is the same thing imparted to me by my grasp of the English language.

In addition, if anyone read the more detailed story, it said:

"She was pretty shocked when I told her," Gomez said Wednesday. "She said, `You are going to make my husband so happy."'

And Jack was, until he and Dee Dee saw the car in the CHP impound lot. It had been through some hard times.

"I drove it home and was lucky to make it," Dee Dee said. "It was in pretty bad shape."

And:

"For the last 10 months, the stolen Mustang has been getting the kid-glove treatment over at Auto-B-Craft, a body shop owned by one of Jack's morning coffee buddies, Dan Veltkamp. Two weeks ago it was time to bring it home. With his family and friends by his side, Jack stood in the driveway talking about his dad and how much this moment would mean to him.

Cruising down the street was a sparkling, completely restored black 1966 Mustang."

Re: Mustang stolen in 1974 is finally recovered!

I love them stories. Back in the late 70's my brother who lives outside Detroit had his 69 Boss stolen. It was found abandoned the next day. Everything was in tact except they sliced up the seats. He bought the car new and still has it. 68,000 miles.

I'd be willing to bet he didn't have theft insurance on the car. That way no insurance claim and he gets his car back. If insurance paid the claim they would own it.
