**Codes P0301 & P0316**
hey guys i need help referring to my 04 Mach
These codes popped up recently. I have done a little bit of research and have already changed the spark plug in the first cylinder and the coil. Still have the light on. Not sure what i am missing if anything. |

OK, here's what I have for you.
Common Problems That Trigger the P0301 & PO316 Worn out spark plugs, ignition wires, coil(s), Vacuum leaks With that said, I would move the coil pack to another cylinder to see if the issue moves with the coil pack. If not then move the spark plug. Yes, you can buy bad plugs and coil packs. Been there. Other things that may cause those codes, Crank sensor....(not reading correct position). I would also do a compression check on all cylinders to compare. If #1 has bad compression, it too could cause those codes. |

If you end up needing a coil, buy Motorcraft. If 1 coil is bad, then the other 7 may not be far behind in their expected life so buying all 8 would be recommended. Does also depend on the miles, that said I am running the factory stock coils on my car and they have 100k miles on them.

Re: **Codes P0301 & P0316**
i ended up replacing the one coil and plug with both factory components.
drove it around for a bit recently and the light ended up going off on its own. so im guessing it solved the problem haha the mach just turned 41k miles today |

Re: **Codes P0301 & P0316**
at 41k Id mark it up to a bad coil. Not quite sure how age will factor in at this point but typically by mileage 70-80k is when they start dropping.
also if you didnt clear the code/reset the light simply correcting the issue doesnt usually turn the light off (I didnt realize it would ever turn itself off even for a misfire)

The CEL in my car would start flashing over a bad coil then never store codes.
