Hopefully A Future Owner
Found the site shopping for an Mach 1. I live 70 miles South of Pittsburgh. Have my sights set on an 03 with under 10,000 miles. The stealership wants 17,500. Is this a good price or am I getting ripped? Car looks bone stock. The KBB looks to be about 17,800for the car I think. Hope to call this place home when I land my dream car. Im selling/Trading my 2000 Mercury Cougar to make a small dent in the buy. Shes been a great car but Ive always wanted a Mach 1.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
The very low mileage Mach 1s tend to hold their value and are not easy to obtain at a bargain price. I paid more than that 2 years ago for a Mach 1 with just over 8,000 miles and I have no regrets.
If the price you are looking at is below KBB, it would seem to be a rather fair price. You are not exactly in a buyer's market, if you are looking to get a Mach 1 with less than 10,000 miles. Good luck on your pursuit of a Mach 1. Well worth hunting for.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
Thanks...I do want a lower milage car but I know how dealerships markup things. I think Ill jump on it even though Im getting hosed on my cougar. I figured I would though b/c its not gonna hold any value.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
Better run a Carfax on it before you buy, alot of low mileage cars are sold because of hidden damage.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
Its a used car so push them performance cars are not sell well with the economy and people wanting to buy cars that get better mileage. Dealerships make the most money on used cars so there's lots of room to bargain with. If they want 17.5 that usually means they paid 14 for it.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
$17,500 at a dealership is a great deal I think. A guy on this site is selling his Torch red with less than 10K miles for $16,500. If I was in the market and both checked out fine I'd definitely buy either of them.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
Always a downer when you see what they offer for your trade-in. It does save the hassle of selling it privately though.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
Sounds like a fair asking price for a low mileage mach from a dealer.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
You should have talked them down to lowest offer THEN say you will trade your car in on it.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
Well hopefully I have a buyer for my Cougar this weekend. That will help with some of the pain. I did ask them their lowest price before before offering up my car but they won't budge. Ill pay to play though after this weekend.

I think you will do well they need the money so play hard ball and win. Take a few hours it always works for the dealer want to close fast before you understand the numbers.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
Im actually gonna look around for the week after the car sells. If I can find a lower mileage AB somewhere else I might bite. Anyone looking to sell They wont budge and I would actually have to fly to pick it up.

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
Im sure you checked the market section in the forum.. seems like cars are added almost daily! Mine was a purchase from ebay, worked out well for me. Its hard to hold out for that perfect car (at least for me it was) when everything is lined up and your ready to buy!! Good luck and post pics when you pull the trigger!

Re: Hopefully A Future Owner
LOL I havent slept more than 6 hours a night all week. Im going in a couple days and I was wondering if you guys and gals can give me a list of things to look for/ problems these cars have. I saw the head tick issue which they said the car is not doing. Anything else to look for when I get there? I know the car is like new but you never know...THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
