Mustang Alley (Woodward Dream Cruise) registration now open!

Here is the link: http://www.motorcityterminators.org/mustangalley/
Saturday August 16th 2008

I am the only Mach so far but I am sure that will change!

If we can get a group together we can all park together as last year the Machs were all spread out. I am sure someone will start a thread with hotel and group information.

Loved it last year, wish I could be there again this year, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards for now. Have a great time, and enjoy the show!

Re: Mustang Alley (Woodward Dream Cruise) registration now open!

I plan on working with the appropriate Ford contacts (once I locate them) to see if we can arrange for grouped parking. The person with whom I coordinated this in previous years left Ford.

I will post as I know more.

Meanwhile, if there are others interested in a group hotel rate and specific location, please let me know. As all of the Ford action will now be in Ferndale this year, I propose that we get something close to there.

My guess is that MRT will host a Woodward open house on the Friday before.

Re: Mustang Alley (Woodward Dream Cruise) registration now open!

I remember my 1st time at Mustang alley it was in 04. They had a nice gathering at the glasshouse on the friday before the cruise. They gave all of us minatue T-Birds and books and book ends, real nice pieces. One of the coolest thing that happened was watch all the yellow Mustangs parade into the glasshouse parking lot one right after another seemed never ending.
That friday in Ferndale it rained a little after cleaning my Mach up a couple of guys from the event come up to me and ask me if I wanted to be part of the show later on with my car on stage because one of the cars who was suppose to be in the event has not shown yet. Then like right before they where getting ready to go Tony shows up he was the one who was late. It was cool they pickd my Mach for that event as a altenate.
Saturay I parked in the designted spots for the Mach's and got lucky enough to be next to Judy what a nice lady she is. It is unforunate she had to sell her Mach because of heath issues but I am sure she loves her new Mustang!. Which leads me to my post it is a wonderful event and I will be on Woodward but not at Mustang Alley. In 05 they started charging 10 dollars to park wtf, the explaination was for city fees. Now they want 20 dollars sorry not from me. 470 cars is the limit, if that was the limit in 05 that is like 4,700 dollars so now its twice that 9,400?!?!?!?!.

Regarding the cost, it's still cheaper than some of the places I've seen for parking during this event.

The Ford folks do a lot to make this happen, with many of the people volunteering their time in addition to their fulltime employment.

Hopefully we will see people there and not let the cost be a barrier.

Keep me informed for the hotel. I will be going on the Friday so will need one for the Friday night. I agree on keeping the hotel near Ferndale. I have absolutely no problems with assisting for the parking or the reservation of the spots for Machs if needed. Let me know if you will require assistance. I plan to be early so helping would be fine.

Re: Mustang Alley (Woodward Dream Cruise) registration now open!

I haven't seen enough activity to warrant a group rate at a hotel, however, the Wagners and I have booked rooms at the Drury Inn in Troy, which is not too far from Ferndale.

Here is the hotel information.

If you book with an "eSaver rate" (online booking), you get it for $83.99 a night. I booked a standard room non-smoking with 2 double beds.

We are all registered.

Probably stop by MRT on Friday for their Open House and then up to the Hotel.

Re: Mustang Alley (Woodward Dream Cruise) registration now open!

Folks -

I wanted to see if there are people up for meeting at the MRT Open House on Friday, 16-Aug, and then having a dinner in the evening.

Also, since they will try to accomodate similar model parking, but cannot guarantee it, it might be good to meet at a staging location on Saturdya morning.

Please let me know if there is interest in either activity. Remember that when parking at Mustang Alley, you are there until 5:00pm that Saturday.

On Friday, 15-Aug, MRT will be having their open house from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

I plan to arrive there sometime between 11:00am and 12:00pm.

I am hoping to arrange a dinner with Scott and a few folks if there is any interest.

I'll be there to look at everyone's car! I just won't have my car in it because my in-laws are going to be here for the dream cruise and it's their first time and my first time to the cruise so we're just going to take it all in.

I think we're hoping to be at Scott's by 2:30-3:00, as long as I don't dilly dally around Friday morning.

Next year I'll probably put ol' yeller in but she isn't out here yet. She's due to arrive in town in October when my folks come over to visit from the farm/ranch. I'll get to drive her for a short period of time before she has to go in storage for the winter!

Check your e-mail for confirmation of your registration in Mustang Alley in my '07. Thanks for going up with me so I can get the Mach back on Sunday. The engine bay will be re-conditioned, new front brake parts installed so I can take it out on road courses occasionally without fading out and cooking the brake fluid, and it will have a new set of tires.

No problem, I'll be happy to wear, uh, remove the stickers off of those new tires!

Re: Mustang Alley (Woodward Dream Cruise) registration now open!

On Saturday, it would be nice to meet up with all the Registry people. I believe we won't necessarily be parked together, although this might be somewhat accomodated if people arrive together.

I propose that if you are interested in meeting Founder Dave and his wife Tammy, let's plan to meet by the police station on 9 Mile at 10:00am on Saturday.

Please post to confirm you would like to do this.

PS - You can find the parking map of Mustang Alley here.
