Old member, potentially a new Mach.
Headed off to grad school, parents thought it might be a wise idea to get a car that gets better mileage than my truck (05 F150, about 12mpg). I thought that was a fantastic idea, and immediately started looking for cars. I had my eyes on a brand new ecoboost Mustang , a 2013-14 GT , or a Mach 1.
After much though, I hated the idea of a 4 cylinder car, no matter how many creature comforts there were. I could afford to make payments on a 2013-14, but don't think it would be a smart move to borrow $6000-$8000 when I wont't have a good job for awhile. (Law school, 3.5 years) By process of elimination I decided that I wanted to hop behind the wheel of a Mach 1 again. I love the raw power and never have been one for creature comforts anyways. After about a week of searching the nation on craigslist, I found a 2003, torch red, 5 speed with 64,000 miles that was wanting to trade for a Ford pickup. Perfect, right? Only mods are SLP midpipe and catback, and an intake. Has 18" staggered Godspeed Omega wheels that I'm not entirely sold on, but we'll see. I'm hoping to go look at it next weekend or the weekend after that. Have to fix a couple things on my rig first. What do you guys think? Would love to hear some opinions. Was looking for an Azure blue but they're tough to find for good deals and the straight up trade just makes it all so easy.

Clean car. What kind of opinions are you looking for just out of curiosity?

Oh, nothing in particular. Maybe like a "you're an idiot, spend the money on the GT" I don't know. Don't want to get ahead of myself.

Re: Old member, potentially a new Mach.
Hahaha
With what you said about not thinking it smart to borrow that kind of money, that's a reasonable consideration. Plus if you can get out of this with basically a straight across trade, that sounds not too bad. Go for it. I've done the 4cyl commuter route... bored myself stiff driving to and from work (30 mile round trip). Yes the MPG was nice but I've accepted the fact that I'll sacrifice some mileage for just a bigger more comfortable car. Good luck checking out the car. -J |

No matter how fast you go in a Econobox you will never look as cool as driving the speed limit in a Mach 1

Re: Old member, potentially a new Mach.
Well, the car is mine!
Got down there and the the car looked even better in person than it did in the pictures he sent. Drove great, couldn't detect any issues at all. I like the wheels more than I thought I would, they seem to fit the car. However, he originally told me (and I checked the text just to make sure I'm not crazy) that the car had an SLP exhaust and an SLP catback. After he drove away with my beloved truck, one of my buddy's got under the car and goes "Huh, Flowmasters". WHAT. I get down there and sure enough, a welded in flowmaster. Look at the x pipe and there were no clamps, no fittings at all, and up at the top where it starts to bend for the manifolds were bend creases in the metal. I wasn't sure what to think of that. Concerns me that if he was going to lie (or not know) about the exhaust, what else was he going to lie (or not know) about? But it sounds okay and I can live with it for awhile. It has a 93 octance tune from Bama that I think runs a little rich (could be due to the exhaust) and seems like a great little car. Jumping from 15mpg on the highway to 23mpg sure helped me get over the exhaust bug. All the more reason to order Borla stingers I suppose?

Re: Old member, potentially a new Mach.
Not to say it's the case, but he might just not have known, maybe a prior dude did something. Guy sold me my car and called the exhaust the ATAK, it was Stingers. Whatever, only changed how much I would have asked for it to sell.
Funny, just sold my stingers a few weeks back would've been perfect. Car looks great, I was going to go for the black wheel and tint but wheels gotta wait... I can never find a car already tinted. I like those wheels. Congrats man! -J |

Just my luck. Looking online and both Lethal and AM have them for the exact same price ($597 after the 5% discount code). Yikes. Thank you for the kind words!
