Oil Pump Gears
This is something I’ve been making for almost ten years now. I digitized OEM 4V gears in about 2005. The first gears I made were from heat treated S7 and H13 tool steel. I also make them from heat treated 4140/42 (Chromalloy). I have programs for all the mod motor gears now. I’ve mostly been making them for people I know and some local speed shops. I’m putting in a new small machine primarily for making pump gears so in the very near future this is something Ill be selling under my company name of WIRETECH. Ill start with the 4140/42 gears witch aren’t as high quality as the tool steel gears but are awesome billet gears that are much more cost effective to make. Its what most of the gears on the market are made from. I see one place sells a 9310 gear set that’s probably a little better than the 4140/42 gears but wont add anything to the durability of the gear set.

Re: Oil Pump Gears
I think its a gear to gear issue due to the material used. Some last forever and some dont. Ive used stock gears in some pretty extreme situations even with UD pullies and a ton of nitrous with no trouble. 99.9% of street cars will probably be fine with stock gears but if you're the other .1% its a bad day.

Inside ring usually splits apart if they fail.

I'm super happy with my set from you Roy. Perfect match to OEM tolerances.
Glad to see you will be making more of these.

Re: Oil Pump Gears
I'm glad you're happy with them. They're are held to +000/-.0005 to OEM specs. When I cut them in a Wire edm machine I leave the outter gear +.005 and then they are OD ground to size. The thickness (.5110) is finished on a precision surface grinder and lapped to size. I also have military spec certs on the material and hardness certs on every set.
