IDIOTS!!!!! (again) - 2003-04 Mach 1 Registry Owners Club

From my local news:
TAMPA: Authorities say a man died when the car he was in lost control while apparently racing another vehicle in Tampa.

Florida Highway Patrol officials say 20-year-old Michael Howell and 21-year-old Mohamed Maktari were racing Wednesday morning. Reports say Howell lost control of his Chevy Camero and struck Maktari's Ford Mustang.

The Mustang hit a pole and split in two pieces.

FHP says the passenger in that car, 20-year-old Kevin Gonzalez, was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Howell and Maktari were treated at a local hospital and both were released Thursday morning.

Authorities say flying debris from the cars caused damage to four other vehicles.

The incident remains under investigation.

Obsolutely MORNONIC!!..and the driver's were released within a day??

I have $20 says the PSGR that didnt' make it..didn't have his belt on....onless the cobra hit the pole on teh passenger side.

And people wonder why I say....START YOUR KIDS OUT WITH MINOR POWER AND WORK UP!!!!

+1 !!! I agree. When your not used to that kind of power, you can get in trouble REAL fast!!! People think that they could simply jump in a 300+ Hp car and begin flooring it around not realizing how fast objects begin getting closer as the speed increases. I would never start my kid with a Cobra!! I think a Yugo or some kind of rice would be more suitable.

My parents had the same philosophy as you do and that is probably one of the reasons I didn't kill myself at a young age. I got a 65 Mustang with a 200 inline 6 for my first car and I got in enough trouble with it. If it had been a new 5.0, I was 16 in 1990, I probably wouldn't have made it to 17

I gotta agree with FloridaOrange that they are a bunch of idiots.

My first car was a 1978 Trans Am that I got back in 1980. At that time it was considered a fast car and I can say that while I loved the car my parents made a mistake putting me in that car. I literally shudder when I think of some of the things we did with that car. I am lucky to be alive and to have not harmed myself, my friends or a totally innocent person. If I ever have kids I will not make that mistake.

Cool. I agree, both drivers should be taken out of the gene pool. I imagine the driver of the cobra at the very least will be quite f'd up for a while for killing his bud....sad indeed.
