The ride is awesome with the Steeda sport springs.
The sound is exactly what I was looking for. I think it actually has less tone at crusiung speeds. When you get on it though, watch out!!! Sean at MMT has been just awesome through this whole ordeal. Starting this back in Feb. and he has done everything and more to help me get my car set-up. Gotta go for another drive!! Later

Tomcat,
We have almost the exact mods with the exception of me running a PHP chip and a PHP air box and I will be running 4:30 gears. That should put me around 320-325 rwhp. My problem has been not being able to get the tires to hook. Hopefully that will be solved with the installation of PHP upper and lower control arms and the Nitto 555 R's. Take it easy, rjw158 |

Got a question for you guys, maybe you have this figured out. At 6500 with 3.55's, our cars go about 105 in 3rd on stock tires.
With 4.30's @ 6500, and in 4th, about 115. With 4.56's @6500, and in 4th, about 108. With less than pefect traction, did Paul determine 4.30's were faster than stock gears and just running it out in3rd? If you're going to shift that one extra time anyway, and if you had traction with maybe BFG DR's, why not 4.56's. With our .62 5th, serious racers could probably live with that rear gear. I imagine the answer is, if you can run 110-113 or so, 4.30's are about all gear you can run. But I still wonder, for folks on close to stock tires (like cold Nitto DR's), if the 3.55's using 3rd doesn't work about as well. Any of you guys have data on that? Thanks.

3.55
you do need to shift into 4th with 3.55s stock tune (computer)
these cars fall off bad at 6000 think it has some thing to do with the cam change ( the old cobras liked 7000) with 4.30s i shift 1-2@6200 2-3@6400 3-4@6500 with chip thru traps at 6200-6300 in fourth (275/50/15 bgr dr) thru traps at 6500-6600 in fourth (275/40/17 nittos) 4.56s work with 275/60/15 well (28"tall) brian is running that combination hope this helps Jeff

Congrats Tomcat! Great numbers. What's next? I'd be interested in seeing what you get after a PHP air box and a chip.

I have a little more time in the car now. Ok, it lets you know everytime you step on the gas. Love it!! I know that is not for everybody.
rjw158, I had Kenny Brown subs welded in along with Steeda Sport Springs installed. I have not spun the tires in 2nd or 3rd since. I can now launch at 3500 rpm's shift at 6400 rpm's and not spin in 2nd or 3rd. Could not do this before (Same tires as before). I have not been to a track and it looks like it might be a couple of weeks before I can go. I am planning on BFG drag radials as my next purchase. I have a little stretch of road I go out and run on. No traffic, no homes and 10 ft high fences along the road. I start from the same pont and have a sign on the side of the road I race to. I was reaching speeds of 100-105mph before the last round of mods. Last night I was reaching speeds of 110-115 with no wheel spin in 2nd or 3rd (Which I had before). So, I really can't wait to get to the track! :HOPPY: I am concerned about not having it tuned for the exhaust, I am waiting to see if my car will learn from more drive time. If not I will have to get a chip and have it tuned. I am also thinking of Denso plugs and a cooler thermostat.

Tomcat,
I have a little stretch of road also, I usually jump on it from a roll because at a dead dig I just go up in smoke. With the Nitto's it hooked and suprised the s**t out of me. I have a set of maximum motorsport full length connectors sitting in the garage just waiting to be installed. My outting at the track was terrible (ask JTCOBRA or Brian) my best was a 13.43 but my 108 MPH should have put me in the high 12's. It's supposed to rain up here for the next 3-4 days, I just put the car up on stands to install a Magna flow cat back exhaust and I should get my upper and lower control arms within the next 2 days, while it's in the air I should put the 4:30's in. When I was at PHP's Paul mentioned that our motor would run rich with the long tubes he corrected it with the chip also my cooloing fan comes on at a lower temperature, (I think 165 degrees) and the traction control is off. |

Tomcat, have you had any time to drive your car after having
the hooker headers and xpipe installed? i was wondering if you have had time, and if the car is running rich like i've herd they will after full exhaust mod's? i plan to do basically the same thing you have did, but with bassani equipment and i have been told i will have to do a chip also or the car will run rich and i will lose some horse power, don't want that now! also do you have a part # for the kenny brown sub-frame connectors and the steeda sport springs you put on you mach1? i am supposed to get my mach1 on the 24th of april the dealer said and man i am sure looking forward to driving this car and fixing it up! torch red 5 speed iup mods coming soon thanks Eddie |

maddad52,
I am actually logged in at work right now. I will pull the paperwork tonight for the part #'s. I have driven it about 500 miles now. I cannot tell if it is running rich. I do not feel a loss of power in any part of the power band. I have also been told that having a dyno tune with chip is the way to go after full exhaust. I am giving my stock chip time to learn and will have it back on a dyno soon. I am going to the track this Saturday and I will see if I can beat my old times. Last Friday night I was at the track, it was really humid and near 80, I did not set any new times. I was shifting at the wrong rpm's as well. So far I am very pleased with my mods.

Still no chip. Car is running great.
Just had my BFG drag radials mounted on Weld Prostar XP's today. They look awesome! I went with the 16x8.5x16. After seeing them on my car I was ready to order a set of rims for the front. The 16x8.5 will not fit over the front brakes. I do not want to run skinnes on the front all the time so I have decided to only have the welds on when I am going to race. The next thing I will do, as soon as I get the parts, is HPM mega bite jrs, double adj uppers and adj lowers. Who knows what will happen after that.

Would a 15 inch version of those Pro Star XP's fit on the rear?

I might as well get a set of 16 inch versions of the factory wheels to match up if 15 inch XP's aren't going to fit. (shrugs- was looking to upgrade to real slicks) I may just deal with the tubby Nittos next year...
... update-- extremely limited selection of slicks with 16 inch wheels. It's either 15 or just stay with the radials.

After the fittings rust a little, you can't even tell they are modified. I am running Weld XP Prostars in 15x9 with 26x10 MT slicks. |
