I don't think that's it at all Bill! You just don't want to do without all those amazing modern creature comforts that came standard in that Shelby on that long, long drive up to Carlisle! Chris can manhandle that '70 Mach 1 to the show, since he lives less than 100 miles away. Funny thing is, everytime I've seen Chris drive that car, it blows up, POOF!

Jim, I'd love to drive my 1970 Mach 1 up there but about 12 hours each way and the drive back and to from the motel daily with my wife ...mmmmm ... I don't think my marriage would last. You notice Chris' wife doesn't ride with him to Carlisle. I'm a tough old bastard but I wouldn't want to subject my wifey to that too (LOL)..... and if you believe that, I've got some ocean front property in Kanas I'd like to sell you.

So yeah, modern creature comforts with modern seats will win out over my six decade old back and backside at the end of the day everytime.

Re: Carlisle 1-3 June 2012 ....Who's going?

We're in the same boat Chris..hoping the last rebuild on the '66 works. Had a scare with it today. Sue had it out and gives me a call from the store that the car won't start. Oh Lord...now what? Thankfully it turned out to be a loose ground wire.

I've still got power steering leaks to track down and fix. Those old pumps are a pain to get sealed properly.

Curt, that's interesting. I drive mine every day and have 20K plus miles on it. I’m usually the only Shelby on the road I ever see, but let me go to a show and all the low mileage garage queens are there in force. You want rare at Carlisle? Show up in a Pinto. Have it detailed and you’ll have a show car winner too. (LOL)

I know Bobby wont be there. It's an anniversary for he and his wife, and she's already made plans. I don't know about any of the others. I'm close to getting to a final decision.
Let you know soon.

Re: Carlisle 1-3 June 2012 ....Who's going?

I love my Shelby, but still get excited when I see an 03-04 Mach on the road. If I kept the Mach it would just be neglected. As I'd look at the 2 cars in the driveway I would be choosing the Shelby over the Mach 1. It is a fun car to drive. And yes the new creature comfort items are nice. But I love all my cars, Chevy or Ford. Even the wife's Toyota.

Same here, Scott. Carlisle is more about the friendships we've formed than just the cars. Like I say, "Our cars brought us together, but the friendships keep us coming back".

I loved my Mach also, but there's another young guy enjoying it now who couldn't afford a Shelby while I could (LOL). See you in June.

ya'll are still on notice! my threat to be at Carlisle 2012 was not just an idle rambling... things are looking up for this little roadtrip

each person that has sold off their Mach1 for a Shelby owes me a beer as punishment

(it can be cheap beer, i'm not picky)

If I ever get out of Alabama, I am going to try to get the Shelby Lancer ready. They are allowing Dodge based Shelby's to partake in the gathering. John, this means you have to come as I will need someone to drive the Mach.

i just checked with the judges and the ruling is... any Dodge based Shelbys present instead of a Mach1 will also net me a beer as well

Well, then I guess it is good I sold one of them and now only have two. If you show up, I will more than gladly buy you a beer ot two.

Hey John, you do realize you drove the car that won its class? Imagine that, a blue car took first and not a red one. lol I figured the only reason it won was because you drove it in to the show field on Saturday morning. Did I mention it is faster than it was last year.
