Re: NASCAR thread
Too bad the best car/driver (#17 Kennseth) didn't win. But going from the very back to top 10 in the short time he did it shows what he had. I can't believe I was actually hoping for Johnson to actually pull off the win, but he's only my second least favorite driver.

Re: NASCAR thread
Well here is the first hater. I absolutely hate the arrogant freaking punk. And I hate Toyota in Nascar even more. However, even with the unfair advantage that Toyota has right now, that was a great move he made on Jimmy Johnson for the win. Credit goes where credit is due.
How many saw the Nationwide race on Friday. Rusty Wallace and Brad Daugherty were asked about the advantages of Toyota this year. Daugherty kind of sugar coated it and Rusty Wallace pulled no punches at all. He called an ace and ace and said he and other teams have the dyno sheet evidence of the hp advantage. I"m sure Nascar is going to have a nice sit down chat with Rusty on Monday. I'm not saying Toyota or Busch are cheating. They have found a way to get more power out of the car. However, with Nascar trying to set these cars up equally they will need to look at this. But I'm sure that is not going to happen until next year. As the old saying goes, Money talks and B.S. walks. And Toyota has paid a lot of money to Nascar. I say we just rip the freaking fender wells of the cars allow Honda to come in as well and have another open wheel racing circuit. |

I hate what Nascar has become. Here we are talking about a driver with the last name the same as the most popular brewery in the US that is about to be bought by the Germans, racing a four door, front wheel drive Toyota, while the guy who has the most recognizable name in the sport and used to drive for the soon to be german brewery, languishes at a team where he is easily the fouth best driver there. All the while the best ford team has sold half of the deal to the Boston Red Sox. What is going on here?

Re: NASCAR thread
I can't believe it, but NASCAR is actually paying some attention to what's going on here:
http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/head...nge/index.html They'd really better watch out if the upcoming COT for the Nationwide series turns out to be from the musclecar crop as has been reported. Then you'll really see a migration of fans from Cup to the Nationwide series IMHO.

Re: NASCAR thread
I like the ESPN coverage already. No more Kyle Petty, and an actual champion is in the booth, Dale Jarrett.

Re: NASCAR thread
I also like it without Petty in the booth. Jarrett is a huge improvement. Unfortunately ESPN can't do anything about a lousy race. REal pathetic watching cars afraid to open it up because of the tire situation. These competition yellows because of tires and cars bringing out yellows between those competition yellows due to blown tires. Tough brake for Kenseth. This is not racing.

I think the pace car will win.
It has led the most laps after all!

Re: NASCAR thread
NASCAR has to know this race sux.
They need to go back to a Darlington or Rockingham. I just don't recall that many good shows for stock cars at Indy.

Re: NASCAR thread
This competition yellow every 15 laps really blows. They showed one long camera shot of the grandstands. Their were thousands of empty seats.

Re: NASCAR thread
A nice ending to one of the most boring races I have ever witnessed. A win for the #48 and a top 5 for the #24. And I'm happy with the second place finish with my favorite driver in the Roush camp, Carl Edwards.
Oh and how can we forget. No top five for Dumbo. :ORANGE: |

Re: NASCAR thread
First the F1 tire debacle, now this bit of fun. You'd think after this many years, the Brickyard people (and Goodyear and NASCAR) could bet this right. None of the drivers had fun, I douby the fans there did, either. Wonder if NASCAR will offer refunds or free tickets to next years event???

Your not kidding. That was a freaking joke. If I were Allstate(sponsor) and the fans I'd want some kind of compensation for that. And to think I almost kept my tickets for this race. I only hope who I gave them too, don't get to pissed at me. If it weren't for going to Walt Disney this upcomimg weekend I'd have been at the Brickyard. I usually go there each year. |

That vid was great. I hope Tony does that in Cup. Nascar needs a hot head.
