We've gone to the 'secret chambers' to work out our final fiendish plan. We settled on a logical plan of attack of our competition; alphabetical order. The good news; you're not first on the list. The bad news: I think you come right after Azure Blue and Comp. Orange...

Absolutely! It took a while because SOMEBODY forgot to wear their shoe phone (there are NO Crocs shoe phones! )...and we had to go out and find a working pay phone. Do you know how hard that is these days?
We were going to start at the most notherly point and work our way south, but Russ seemed to have a problem with that...

So the new pay phones, that accept quarters or credit cards - whathaveyou will not function?
Is the rumor true that only pay phones that need a ten cent piece will work.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary

I am not sure about the host hotel for the Mach 1 registry but I was told that the MCA host hotels are now all booked up.

If this is true and you do not have a room yet, the areas east of Birmingham are still probably open. You can google the areas of Irondale, Leeds, Moody, Pell City and Trussville. The longest distance from the show site would be Pell City which is 30 minutes by interstate from Barbers.

A word of caution and advice, AVOID booking anything in Birmingham or south of town. Traffic is killer and there are areas that you would not want to take your Mach 1. If you need any input on less than desirable areas please PM me and I'll let you know what areas are safe. The registry has worked up arrangements with a group of hotels in Irondale, which is a good area and if you book with these, you can enjoy the fellowship with our group. I think a list has been posted in this thread or one of the others pertaining to this show on other threads.

One last item, if you have or know of anyone who has an SSP (Special Service Package) Mustang i.e. Police Package. If they are coming for the 45th please have them contact Paul Becker on the SSP forum. He will be in charge of the line up of the SSP cars for the cruise Thursday night. If you can not reach him forward them to me and I'll get them the info they need.

All the info I have for now. Eight and half months to go.

The 2 hotels that have the Mach 1 Registry discount (also being shared with the Bullitt club) are not yet full.

The SSP guys had a very strong showing at the MCA 30th. They were the lead group in doing photo shoots in the plateau overlooking the track. We did the same the next morning and go tsome reallt great group and individual shots. We should try to do the same this next show. It's perfect for such things.
The Irondale hotels we have set up for are an easy drive to the show area, and seemed 'safe'.

Just park next to me so when the barnyard buzzards fly over they will miss the stealthy DSG (because they are well hidden) and target the TR

Yes! I would love to see Sue and you both! Also, I plan to do an open track this time. I just dropped off my car at MRT for some work, among which is some brake upgrade!

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary

I received my confirmation for my registration for the Judged show today. My number is #45. They want to know if I have any mods and how many. I said NO it came this way from the factory as a Hurst special. If you guys rat me out, heads will roll. JK.

Did you send them the picture of you standing next to your car in the Batman outfit? That could distract them from noticing any mods.

Are the pigeon dropping going to be considered a mod?

For those who are interersted and haven't gotten off of your lazy behinds, MCA finally woke up and put the show and registration info on their site:

Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Joins 45th Anniversary Party at Barber

Worlds Fair to Barber Motorports Park in 45 Fast Years

12 August 2008-(Tooele, UT)— Just four rounds into the 2008 season, the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup inaugural championship has got off to a fast start. But despite being in the thick of a busy summer of racing, series organizers are already looking ahead to the 2009 racing season and are pleased to announce that the 45th anniversary celebrations for the Ford Mustang at Barber Motorsports Park on April 17-19, 2009 will also include a Mustang Challenge race.

“We are thrilled with how well the inaugural Mustang Challenge season has gone and our competitors are really excited about the opportunity to be a part of this event,” said Manager, Ford Racing Performance Group Jamie Allison. “Given the tremendous competition history of the Mustang, it couldn’t be more appropriate to have the Mustang Challenge be a part of this huge event.”

The 45th anniversary celebrations come exactly 45 years after Ford first showed the Ford Mustang at the Worlds Fair in New York City, and are expected to see over 100,000 enthusiastic participants on hand for the three-day event.

“Barber Motorsports Park is truly excited to host such a huge and passionate group like what we expect for the 45th Anniversary celebrations,” said Clark Virden, Marketing Director for ZOOM Motorsports, which is the exclusive promoter and management firm for Barber Motorsports Park. “Featuring a Mustang Challenge race during the event makes perfect sense, and we think it’s a tremendous addition to what is already going to be a fantastic weekend for everyone.”

“We expect that the 45th Anniversary celebrations are going to be the largest-ever gathering of Ford Mustangs, and that passion has long been fueled by the Ford Mustang racing legacy,” said Steven McCarley, Vice-President of the Mustang Club of America. “So to have the Mustang Challenge be in the spotlight during the weekend is a fantastic addition to the celebrations, and we can not wait to see the race!”

Round 5 of the 2008 season will take place August 15-16 at Lime Rock Park.

ABOUT THE FORD RACING MUSTANG CHALLENGE for the MILLER CUP:

The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup is a new professional racing series co-developed by Ford Racing and Miller Motorsports Park. Utilizing the new Ford Mustang FR500S and sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association, the series will be a support series to major professional road racing events across North America.

Having viewed a race at Mid-Ohio this year, I can guarantee this is a sight to behold. The cars sound and look great going around the track!

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary

I got my registration in for the judged class. But I'm not sure now if I want to keep it that way. I understand now that the judged cars are gonna be parked together near the control tower, which makes sense now that I think about it for ease of judging. Also that may be away from any possible group gathering. I was also concerned with amout of clean up and maybe trailering the car.
Holiday Inn (irondale) tells me they are still wide open (meaning rooms) and have ample space for trailers.

Anyone else sign up for judged class?

I'm just gonna make a week (or longer) vacation out of this and stop in Nashville on the way down a couple days where my kids live and maybe on the way back home.

I'm just gonna make a week (or longer) vacation out of this and stop in Nashville on the way down a couple days where my kids live and maybe on the way back home.
I chose the judged class because there is more of a chance of bringing home an award. MCA is very good about spreading the trophys out. I'm not looking for 1st or second, but something that says I was there. The Peoples choice is huge and your chances are slim to none for an award. If I wind up with nothing that's OK also, it's the fun factor I'm going on this trip for. We too are going to visit our kids in NC and Virginia after the event.
