Re: Official 2008 - 2nd Annual Mach 1 Showdown - FREE!!!

I was at a race in Jersey (FFW) that I drove my 11 second Mach1 (350 miles one way)to where I saw a guy and his wife with there Mach they drove from Texas while towing a trailer to hold there tires. I really don't see a problem other than bug splatters which can easily be cleaned off.

Re: Official 2008 - 2nd Annual Mach 1 Showdown - FREE!!!

Ok, I'll take the day off of work and drive all of 17 miles to race Friday at my home track.. Put me in the Factory and bracket classes. I have an 03 black automatic. It'l run just low 13 second elapsed times. I've still got cats, a stock 3.55 gear, and stock converter. If you know of someone who is experienced in installing the following parts sitting in my living room, please le me know: 1) rear lower megabite jr control arms 2) 3500 stall converter 3) 4.10 FRPP ISF gear Mosier 31 spline axles and Detroit locker.
Yes it's a 1/4 mile track, but it's got the shortest shutdown area that I've ever been to (TriState, Edgewater, National Trail, IRP, Norwalk). Make sure you hit the brakes hard just after the finish line! And yes I'm glad it's 1/4 mile!
See you Friday morning, Howard

My question is that I am coming from WAY northern Illinois (only 30 minutes from Wisconsin) and have to drive about 7 hours (370ish miles) each way. Do you think that it is worth it to put the car through that? I would get there sometime Thursday night and not drive home until Saturday, so the car will have time to rest between racing, but the car is still my "baby" and I just want to hear from you guys what choice you would make in my situation. I will be racing in the factory class.
I would appreciate any input you guy can give me. THANKS!
Steve Cacchione
I say go for it. I only have to drive about 2 hrs but if one of these events is anywhere within one day drive in the future I plan on attending. I will have DR's, big floor jack, cooler, duffel bag and max motorsports sponsor pckge in my trunk so you should be good. One tire will fit in the trunk and the other is easiest to go thru pass door with seats folded down. They will fit no problem, I have done it many times. I am staying friday night, hope you can make it.

Yes. They said that RV'ers could stay over night. Just tell them that you are part of the mach1Registry.com track rental and they shouldn't have a problem with it. There is a paved area where they'll likely tell you to park.

I might have missed it, but will concession stands be open during this rental? It's hard to race on a empty stomach ya know!

I washed the Mach last tonight so I'm ready for this. It should be a lot of fun!

Ok...My street tires are being put on now, and hotel reservation just made, so looks like I'll be heading out in about an hour or so. Probably won't make it to the track tonight for the T&T, but I will be there tomorrow! See you all then.

I think that they will have one of their two concession stands open. if not, there are several fast food joints in Xenia and there will be plenty of breaks throughout the day to go get something.

Sounds good. So how many Mach 1's and other Mustangs do you expect for tomorrow?

There have been so man that said, "I'm in, I'm out, I'm in, I'm out" that I really don't know." I think that there will be around 20-25 Mach 1's and around 10-15 other Mustangs.

Re: Official 2008 - 2nd Annual Mach 1 Showdown - FREE!!!

Well, I just made it home (only 5 1/2 hours) and I just wanted to say that I could not stop thinking about today all the way home. I had a great time and am so glad that I decided to make the trip! I hope to email and post some pictures tomorrow. I look forward to next year, of course with the hopes that I will be able to make it!

Thank you again to all that attended today, everybody that I got to meet and talk to and for all the work that was done to get this event together for a second year. I do hope that more people take advantage of this incredible opportunity to get together with fellow enthusiasts and talk about, see and race against others that share this love of this great car! Even those that made the trip and didn't even race!

The more people that decide to make this a special event will only make this event more special!

Re: Official 2008 - 2nd Annual Mach 1 Showdown - FREE!!!

As the lead sponser of this event I am happy to hear you all had a good time. Business issues kept me from attending - But the pictures really look great.

The latest scam in NC is robbing mail boxes. I mailed a check but it was not received so I PayPal'ed the money and it was received. Someone attempted to cash the check but it was blocked (I canceled it once I heard it was not received). Now I make daily trips directly to the post office to send and pick up my mail. What is the world coming too?? This SU_Ks !!!

Being I live out in the country it is easy for things like this to happen I guess - being the road has very little traffic.
