Re: NASCAR thread
I think there is one thing that we all can agree on here whether we are fans of the Hendricks team, RCR, Roush, or DEI. That is our opinions on the Toyota's.
Another success story for Michael Waltrip and his Toyota in qualifying. Nascar should start charging him for the cost to repaint the walls week in and week out. |

Re: NASCAR thread
You are so right, and he needs to open his own body and paint shop. That should save him a ton of $. He slapped the heck out of the wall last night. But on a Ford note, both pole winners (not to be confusedwith Jimmie or Jeff 'taking' a pole) were Ford drivers. Maybe there's hope yet...but I still don't have Speed so I guess I'll be reading about it in the paper tomorrow...

Re: NASCAR thread
I've been a devoted race fan all my life and Toyota is the least of my concerns with NASCAR. I prefer American cars but when you attend a Cup race there are Toyota fans and they provide some nice displays for the fans. I don't get some of the hate for the Toyota drivers. I would drive one tonight if that was a way to get a Cup ride.
It will probably keep the US based teams on their toes. Just imagine what an American can would be "quality wise" if there was no Japanese competition. The current crop of US cars is MUCH better because they have to be.

Wind Tunnel was better than I thought it would be --- referring to the "Iron-Head vs "WonderBoy" comparison.
They had some great stories recounted.

Re: NASCAR thread
Juan Pablo Montoya completely sucks. I knew he'd be taking cars out as soon as I saw he was starting 5th in the qualification race.

Re: NASCAR thread
Is it just me or is this AllStar Open/Race the most exciting race of the year so far? Bunch of crashes and it really is a shootout for the win! Sucks that Carl Edwards is commentating instead of racing but I love that the Busch brothers took themselves out!

Re: NASCAR thread
Yeah, that was some really good all out racing. Too bad Martin fell back at the end. That would have been sweet to see him win, but Harvick winning was better than the  twins. (Gordon @ Johnson)

Re: NASCAR thread
Yeah, Harvick was my third pick. Martin, Burton, and then Happy.
Pretty exciting, I kinda feel bad for Kurt because he seems to be a different guy with the Penske guidance.

And I was so hoping Martin could have pulled it off but I'm definitely on the "anybody but Hendrick" bandwagon so I'm glad Yap-Yap won over JJ too!

Re: NASCAR thread
I think Penske put that nut case on riddlin'!!! Little brother should be gettin his azz kicked for making that boneheaded move. Could've been alot worse accident since they were up front.

Re: NASCAR thread
I agree. He seems to be a completely different person now. He seems to be a more calm and collected guy now. I use to hate him but not so much anymore. I don't root for him but I don't dislike him either. He's no Rusty though!!!

Re: NASCAR thread
I agree with the comment on Kurt Busch, he seems to have done a lot of growing up the last couple of years. I'm not a fan of his, but I also don't root against him like I use to.
As for the Hendricks stable. I'll take the Jimmy/Jeff tandum(I'll pass on Kyle, can't stand him) that most of you hate over the team of overrated drivers in the Roush team with the exception of Matt Kenseth. Matt is the only driver on that team in my opinion that is an elite driver. The others are good, but not in the league of Kenseth. As for Martin, all class. I love what he said in his post race interview when asked what he said to Jimmy Johnson. He told him that he can flat out race a car. |

Re: NASCAR thread
I think MEETING Sheriff Joe Arpaio was a eye-openning event for Kurt.
He seems to have woke up to reality and if the fans give him a chance he might develope into a favorite. His past is working against him and seeing Shrub pull stunts like last night, reminds us of the old Kurt. He was excellent when interviewed.

Re: NASCAR thread
Pardon my stupidity, and having never watched a NASCAR race before I'm completely clueless as to how this all works (that was sarcasm for all you Toyota and GM fans), but why is NASCAR showing a 47 car line up after qualifying? For whatever reason the number 43 (and not the Petty blue one) sticks in my mind as the number of cars fielded in a race. So what gives?

Re: NASCAR thread
And, once again, Michael Waltrip FAILS to make the race.
Bill Elliott, made the race in the 21 car, and did not need to use a provisional. Take THAT Benedict Jarrett!

Re: NASCAR thread
It makes that commercial with Michael Waltrip, Dale Jarrett, and Sammy Hagar all the funnier.
"Could you turn the volume lower?" "Sure, could you drive alittle faster".
