Got it. Just wondering at the track which will yield a better time.

Last month for whatever reason the stock key gave me a huge lag after 1st gear.
I tried Trackey for the rest of the night and it ran perfect.
Im dying to try a Steeda Tune. But Dyno guy said it takes at least 35-40 mod to show a definite track difference. Said times. Might not get better but I could see better MPH. I see 113-114 all night so far, so If I see 115 or better ill know it.

Re: 2012 Boss 302 - POST all info here.

Random question UnrealFord. How's the steering wheel? Ever been in an 11+ with leather one? Which did you prefer?

I sat in a ctsv at Philly auto show to check out the suede steering wheel AND shifter. One of those things you never think about, but it was so nice. Only hesitation I would have about them would be I would think your hands would get warm/clamy but maybe I'm nuts. I've never had suede/alcantara in any car.

The wheel has been great even in high humidity weather, I like it alot but am concerned about the condition in future wear .

After a crappy start to my long (3 day) weekend, got sick Sat. night, I went to the doc for a shot. Felt better and then got a call to check out a friends new car. Got to drive it...NOW I REALLY WANT ONE!!!! Might be sick again...

Re: 2012 Boss 302 - POST all info here.

I have a friend with a new 2013 Boss 302 that I drove a few weeks ago. It handled nicely and really wanted to rev in the 7,000 rpm plus range. If I didn't already have a 2011 Shelby GT-500 I might have thought it was the best Mustang I had ever driven; and I've owned and driven Mustangs daily since my first new one in 1970.

However, my 2011 GT-500 is a "base" model with the only extra options being the car cover that came in the trunk (never opened, still in bag). I've weighed my car and with a full tank of gas it was 3770 pounds. The boss felt much like my aluminum blocked Shelby GT-500 in handling on the street in my spirited test drive taking the curves and cloverleafs at fun speeds. It felt almost like driving my Shelby only it was about 150 hp down. I really had to "work" to get it up to speed whereas in my Shelby I only need to "breath" on the gas peddle to move out briskly. It was a fun car and I'd love to have one as a daily driver (for the increased mpg, LOL) but I wouldn't trade a 2011 and up GT-500 for one. Maybe an earlier GT-500 but not one with the aluminum block and lighter weight.

As I said, if I didn't already own a late model GT-500 I've probably think i was the best Mustang ever from Ford and the Track Apps was very cool.

Re: 2012 Boss 302 - POST all info here.

I completely understand, Bill. Having had the pleasure of driving a GT-500 remarkably similar to the one of which you speak, I can not say negative things about the 540 hp beast.
I did also get to drive a Shelby GT-C right after and was surprised just how different two such similar car can be. The GT-C was much stiffer in ride, and the 3V 4.6 pulled hard but again nowhere near the pull of the 5.0 Road Runner engine.
Also, right after this we fired up his Viper engined 2012 Challenger drag car. Loud, very loud!

I had just gotten off work today and was headed to a sub shop and I see a 2012 red Boss 302 get off the highway exit and goes screaming by me. Then, not even 1/4 mile away I get to the sub shop and there's a 2013 yellow Boss parked in the parking lot. Then, I drive about 3 miles down the road to get on the highway and right in front of me, another 2013 yellow Boss turns left and screams onto the highway. I was like

Nine of them showed up at this months Griot's cruise in. They are as common as flys on a pile.

Yeah, but this was'nt a Mustang get together. This was 3 different Bosses all going completley opposite directions on a crappy Seattle day and seeing all of them within 10 minutes. One off 167 North exit by my work, one at the sub shop, then one going 167 South on my way home. It was a tri-fecta.

I see more 2013's around than 2012 model Boss 302's.

Griot's is not a mustang get together. They just show up like VW's

Those were taken in my friends garage. Here are some other shots from inside the garage last night.
And yes I got to move it. Of course it's not a street legal car, so of course I couldn't take it out on the street.
But his driveway...well, it needs a Christmas tree at one end...

Re: 2012 Boss 302 - POST all info here.

He will have it on track at Hallett for the next SAAC meet and probably NOLA in the near future. He'd recently sold a 2000 Cobra 'R' that saw quite a bit of track time. He's also got an LS which was on the track at NOLA not long ago. The rest of his collection is in another building on the back of his property.

Took the Boss back to the drag strip for the first time this year. Tried out the Steeda airbox and revised tune.
Made 2 passes.
Then installed factory box and Factory tune.
Factory tune seems to pull harder off line but steeda seems stronger up top.

Either way best run was not my best run ever but trap speed was a constant 117-117.9mph..
Cars still stock with drag radials.
Both tunes achieved a 12.1

There is an updated version fo the Donald Farr Boss 302 book now up for pre-order. It is basically the same as the excellent 2012 book, with 2013 information updates. It is scheduled to shipin about 2-3 weeks and is available through Motorbooks or Amazon. It does have a different cover shot from teh previous version.

Plenty of choices out there depending on your budget .....I sat in a Boss last week & it felt pretty good & also really like the GT-350.....but both of those cars are way out of my budget.....Im happy with my 2003 Mach / 13,500 miles & my 2007 Honda accord / V-6.....Happy holidays

Funnily enough the more I drive my Boss 302, the more I really like my Mach 1 all that much more. Can't believe it's been nearly 14 years.
