Yes, the lash adjusters for the GT heads have a smaller diameter.

iirc, it had something to-do wth the oil spray pattern, which is aimed at the cam lobes instead of straight up at the cam cover...

still cant answer you PM wth 100% certainty about whether or not FoMoCo heat treats the followers body, which I highly doubt because of cost

Beat ya too it.

I know the roller itself, is hardened. Thanks!
I dont know if the body itself has been heat treated either. I have never seen one fail, but I have seen them pop off the lifter.

Retail on the rocker arm is $19.46, M1R discount would be $14.34 ea. Retail on the lifter would be $12.05, M1R discount would be $8.88 ea. *$734.04 for 32 of each.

FGT parts Randy and I are talking about:

4G7Z-6564-AA (FGT/GT500) Follower
4G7Z-6500-AA (FGT/GT500) Tappet Exhaust
F77Z-6500-AB (FGT/GT500/4.0L) Tappet Intake

Full set of these would cost $1048.96 with M1R discount. I hope this helps.

They would be very similar, if not the same. The 2000R, FGT and 2007-up GT500 use the same basic head that was developed way back in the Ford Rough Rider Off Road Truck program.

FWIW: I know my customers have used these in both 2V and 4V applications.

well, yes and no....the Ford GT(40) uses 2 different lash adjusters....
on the Exhaust side, it uses a F77Z-6500-AB, which is also used on the 4.0 SOHC engines and on the Intake side it's a 4G7Z-6500-AA....

also of note:
the '07 up Shelby Mustangs also use the same lash adjusters and cam followers as the Ford GT(40).....

Re: Trick Flow OEM style Ford Roller Followers

How much are 16 FR500 (4.0) followers?

Also, will the GT followers work with the standard lash adjusters in a set of non-GT heads?

4.0 followers (YL2Z-6564-AA) would cost $150.56 for 16 or $9.41 each.

I honestly dont know what will interchange on these followers/lifters. I'm just the poor sap that sells them.

You are correct. Oh, and thanks again. I have a set of new FR valves, 04 heads, lash adjusters, and 32 followers, of which 16 can be used on the intake side with the FR valves. The 16 4.0 followers are for the exhaust side.

Re: Trick Flow OEM style Ford Roller Followers

Okay, I saw some GT followers this weekend while visiting with John Tymensky. They are different...very different. The "cup" that the lash adjuster sits in seems to be deeper which cuold ahve the potential to reduce "thrown" followers.

those should be the GT(40) ones, as John is the one who turned me on to them some years back

They were developed in the CORE Off Road Truck Racing program back in the day. Who knows what else they were doing in that program.

Re: Trick Flow OEM style Ford Roller Followers

So far the best price I have found for genuine Ford factory roller followers is from Modular Motor Racing. Listed on their web site for $299.99 for 32 followers. Figure about $20 shipping, if that...??!!!

Puts the cost at $9.99 ea. or slightly less.

Yes, but they won't work with the FR500 exhaust valves, for that setup the 4.0 followers are needed.

I was just quoting the cheapest factory followers for my 4.6l DOHC motor. Not following FR500 valves/followers or 4.0 followers, or any other motor, or thinking I could use those. Just for my 4.6l DOHC, with factory valves.

I started this thread in hopes to find out if anyone had used/tried the heat treated trick flow factory roller followers..

How is Trick Flow getting these factory followers, then heat treating the bodies and selling them for $11.95..?? Summit Racing did buy Trick Flow back in 1992, but I guess kept the Trick Flow name.
