I drive this car daily, on some bad roads, and make an occasional pass at the dragstrip. Car will probably never see an autocross or an open track day, so I'd like to lean more toward comfort than ultimate handling, but a great stance is still a must.

If it was me, before changing your UPR setup, I'd get a new set of shocks and struts. Even if the stockers have low miles, I'm sure being over 10yrs old, they are pretty dead on dampening.

Your problem right now is your shocks. They blow out quickly when paired with lowering springs. Adding Bils to your existing springs will be a huge improvement in handling and comfort while maintain your stance. Also put your stock UCAs back on the car. Those UCAs that you have increase the suspension bind and that hurts both handling and comfort. Now if an occasional drag strip appearance is in your future then the stock springs are better along with the Bils and the stock UCAs. You will have to choose between keeping your stance and better strip performance.

Re: Shocks / Struts for comfort?

Thanks for the info guys. Putting the stock uca's back on is not possible. I bought the car with it's current setup, and none of the stock parts came with it. I agree that changing the shocks and struts first is the way to go, as the factory ones have 96,000 miles and counting, just wondering if the steeda springs might be an improvement as well. I believe they claim to have the "best ride" of all the aftermarket lowering springs. As far as choosing stance or drag strip prowess, I'll have to choose stance. I have a car that is primarily for drag racing, so my Mach 1 is only used for fun runs and because I just can't own a vehicle and not at least take it to the dragstrip once to see what it will do. lol.

Springs are pretty much springs. "Best ride" is just Steeda BS. Get some Bils and keep your springs and go buy some stock UCAs.
