Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?
A lot can happen before anything serious is put in motion, but I hope they come to their senses and either retire the Mach 1 name or give it the kick *** Mustang model that it deserves in the very near future.
I also remember the Probe. Cool cars back in the day. Haven’t seen one in quite a while. Never considered one at the time, because I had a 91 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. A car I absolutely loved to drive in any weather.

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?
Watched the video on youtube with ford unveiling these cars (Bullit) and while it was very cool to see Steve McQueens granddaughter unveil the bullit and see one of the original cars, we were wondering why they didn't at least show some graphic for the 2020 Mach1, even though its slated to be a hybrid, it should still resemble the 2019 body style, correct?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQ_yaggr6EM Ranger = another mid size truck copy...IMHO

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?
Ford using the Mach 1 name on anything else besides a new mustang model Mach 1 would pretty much kill the chance of us ever seeing another Mach 1 Mustang.
As for a dedicated electric vehicle, how many Mustang loving gear heads are thinking "you know this here car just needs an electric motor and it'll be perfect". Besides the higher price tag... Ugh!!

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?
Call it the Current or some other name that fits it's electric lineage, but don't degrade the Mach 1 moniker by putting it on an SUV.

Don't know if you guys saw this
https://jalopnik.com/a-ford-mach-1-b...min-1822073131 Update Jan 14 6:00 p.m. est: Mike Levine clarified his tweet in a message to Jalopnik, saying Ford is “researching the name Mach 1 to see how customers respond,” for a high performance battery electric SUV.

I don't think Lightning owners would be happy about that.

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?
No, but the name would be more relevant. Electric, Lightning. At least they were trucks, that is closer to a crossover/SUV than a Mustang.

It is kinda sad that the Bullitt (a movie car) gets a version on the 50th anniversary of the movie but the Mach 1 (real production car) turns 50 next year and the only thing Ford comes up with is to "maybe" make an submodel to an SUV. Between this and the lack of a replacement airbag for the Fusion, I am seriously considering a 5.7 Hemi AWD Charger to replace the Fusion. I have had quite a few Charger rentals car and they are really nice cars. Unfortunately I see Ford following what Chrysler did in the mid 90s. They got so focused on building cars for the masses that the cars got boring, whimpy, and lost their appeal. You build them with the car enthusiast in mind. The masses will still buy them and maybe become enthusiasts.

I thought for sure that they would "Americanize" the new Ranger to look more tough. Nope still looks like that p***y a** Australian abortion of a truck. Hadn't heard about them just repackaging the Everest as the new Bronco. That's disappointing. There was some awesome looking renders out there. I'm starting to see a trend here. Feminizing once tough looking vehicles. It's just a continuation of what society has been doing to our youth with all this politically correct b.s.

I posted this on my Twitter account. I rarely tweet, so it’s not doing anything, but it had to be said!

I still have my Mach. I will likely keep it for a while. Sadly, I've just completely lost faith with Ford. If they make a hybrid SUV Mach 1, it's clear they've gone off the rails. It's time to just move on. |

Re: 2020 Mach1 hybrid!?
I've contact someone at Ford whom some of us know, and his response indicated that this is a pet project of the new Ford CEO, so it doens't look good for the home team.
