Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?
My dad had owned a few mustangs that I took care of (aka drove around because he never did) but the Mach is my first Mustang. He had a couple 65' 289 auto coupes, 64' 289 auto Galaxie 500, 66' 289 auto fastback, 65 6 popper auto convert, and a 99 GT convert. All of those within about 10 years. Guess when your a Ford salesman for 35 years your never happy with what you got.

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?
Where is the third option? Bought a Mach1 because of the heritage and lack of power option? First was a 96 Mystic Cobra, then a supercharged Zinc Yellow GT, then a 2004 Comp Orange KenneBell Cobra. Just bought the DSG Mach1 for a fun daily driver. -Shane

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?
This is my third stang...first stang was a 1984 20th anniversary and was originally owned by my brother. He got too many tickets so I started driving it in 1987 then I traded that in and I bought my first new stang in 1990. It was a GT hatchback and I owned that for 12 years and then I sold it and bought my mach 1. The main reason for buy the mach 1 was that it reminded me of the 20th anniversary edition. Limited edition, cool stripe across the bottom and cool unique features...really regretted getting rid of that car.

My 03 Mach 1 is my second Mach 1. I had a 1973 Mach 1 that I bought new back in December of 1972.

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?
I had a dark shadow gray V6 auto (pony package) that I traded in on the Mach 1. It was my father's Mustang. After he died (85 years old), I kept it for over a year, but eventually traded up to the Mach 1. He always admired the Mach 1, so I thought it would be fitting to see his car turn into a beautiful Mach 1.

Second, I still have my '92 LX, which I spent lots of time and money turning into a daily driver quality car and now I'm selling it.

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?
Not only my first stang but my first Ford. My uncle who was like a grandpa to me was the Chevy truck manager for 37 yrs. So, I grew up in Chevy cars and trucks. I had a 99 z28 and I thought theres no way this Mach is even half as fast and fun to drive as my Z. BOY was I wrong.
My 9 yr old loves mustangs and we always argued over them. I always ask him what I did wrong in raising him for him to want a FORD. When I brought it home at 10 pm at night, he put on his shoes and wanted to get in. The smile on his face was worth all the crow I ve been eating from my Chevy/Ford buddies. All I could do was smile when my son said the other night in his first ride "all those times I ask you to buy a Mustang and now you did". |

Nice combo. You really like the car and your son really likes it too. I bet he will be hoping you keep it at least 7 years and then "you" move into something new and he gets the Mach 1. I think the only thing that kept me out of a Mustang all these years is the T-Tops of my Z-28. Once I drove the Mach 1 though, the T-Tops were not as important anymore. Oh, I do miss them sometimes, but the Mach 1 is such a blast to drive and even more of a visual statement than the beautiful white Z-28 I had. Here's one of the last pictures of my Z-28 (that I owned for over 13 years) and my Mach 1.

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?
Thats one reason I didnt want a mustang is the T-tops. But I couldnt find a new used Z28 SS. The first mustang I found had a sunroof in it. But the bank dragged their feet on the loan and it got sold before I could get everything in line. BUT like you said, once I drove the Mach, I loved it and forgot all bout t-tops.

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?
Funny, how it worked out for me. In Jan of 1972 I wanted a '71 leftover. I found out I couldn't afford the INSURANCE. LONG LONG LONG years went by, and in '03 we went to look at an Azure Blue when they came out. I chickened out and bought an '03 GT. It was too much to take in, waiting all those years, I guess?. But in '07 my wife decided to get a used '04 Mach for herself to make me happy. And it did! Whatever way, it worked out in the end. It took 35 years, but now there's two Mustangs in the garage.
