Right on the $! No chrome tips on any Bosses. You see a lot of them, especially on Boss 351's.

For today; unique to '69 Mach 1's and any '69 Mustang with a console were two rectangular openings just forward of the storage compartment on the console. What were these for and why were they not needed in subsequent years?
Bonus; name all the Ford products that could be had with factory shakers...

Buckle Holder
They have 2 belts for each front occupant, one lap and one shoulder, later years had a single system for restraint.

Bonus--? Mustang, Torino, Fairlane, Galaxie, does Talladega count?and is this only US?

FLM=Cougar, Cyclone,Montego

Right on the mark with the console question.
As far as the bonus; Mustang, Torino, 70 1/2 Falcon, Ranchero (I didn't think anyone would get that one) and for Australia: Falcon GT HO Phase III. The Galaxie never had a shaker, although the A/FX drag cars were famous for their teardrop hood scoop. The Fairlane Cobra had the standard 'CJ' scoop that was functional, bu tno shaker there, either. The Talledaga lists a hood scoop option on the sales brochure, but all the production ones had flat hoods including 'Bunkie' Knudsens personal Talledaga that was the only one painted yellow, had A/C, and white interior.

For today; Mustang convertibles have always been very desirable, not built from '74 to '82, they returned to a warm reception in '83 and are very much in demand today. What is the only year that the Mustang convertible came with a hardtop as a factory option?

Correct, in '95 there were 499 Cobra convertibles built with a factorry removable hardtop. This cannot be retro fitted to cars that did not come with this option and are considered some of the rarest Mustangs ever built.

OK, while on the subject of ragtop 'Stangs, what in the heck does '7up' have to do with the Mustangs' 25th anniversary?

It was a 7up promotional 25th anniversary mustang that was painted exterior green and white interior with white rag top.

...and the rest of the story is that the promotion never happened, so Ford took all the 7up cars and they became the 'unofficial' anniversay car. You've seen them before, green with white tops and white leather interiors and the 'fun' to clean turbine style wheels.

I'm nnot sure the promotion ever got off the ground for you to collect whatever it took to get one, so all the cars were sold throuhg regular Ford channels and given the unofficial designation of 25th Anniv. Mustangs.
Were you the guy that tried to get Pepsi to ante up for AV-8 Harrier jump jet when they ran that ad with a Harrier shown as a possible prize? Somebody actually got enough points to qualify according to the ad, even though it was never a real prize (At least I think it was Pepsi)...boy...I wish I had a Harrier of my own:LAUGH:

Wish I had seen this trivia question when it was first posted. I have one of the 7UP Cars, and I love it...

Here's a link to my website if anyone wants to know more about one of the more collectible Fox body cars:

Interesting link and information. Why in the worls did they go to effort of using coupes and then whacking off the tops when there were convertibles coming off the assembly line? Sounds like Cadillac and their Allante debacle!

Actually, I don't believe that Ford was making convertibles at that time. My understanding is that all of the convertibles until the platform change in 1994, started life as coupes.

Whatever the reason, I really love the 7UP Car...

Official production began in '83, but I follow you in that Ford did not actually build it from scratch as such, but farmed out the conversion to C&C. I know that ASC did some as well, as the McLaren Capri and Mustang. My '82 GT took forever to arrive because it had to go to C&C first to have the T-Tops installed, that wasn't done inhouse either!

For today; Not a question, but a very interesting factoid. It has been known for a number of years that the European company 'Ferguson' built a number of '69 Mustangs modified with a 4 wheel drive system. Today it was posted on the 'freenet' German Mustang Club site that 2 '65 Mustangs had been 'verified' to have been modified with a similar system when new. (Hey, don't laugh...Ford built awd Tempos, too...!)

Even harder to find is the Tempo GT with V-6 and front wheel drive. It's 15 in' wheel and tire combo could barely hold the torque and power in check...very rare...and when did this become Tempo Trivia?:OFFTOPIC:

For today; what famous driver set a number of speed records in a Mach 1 at the Bonneville Salt Flats in a '69 Mach 1 (OK, so it wasn't stock.).

For today; what is the only year that vintage ('69-'73) Mach 1's came standard with a custom style wheel, as opposed to a wheel cover or wheel cover/trim ring combo?
