45th Mustang Anniversary
For those of you who attended the MCA's 30th Anniversary Show at Barber's in 2006. I have great news, the 45th Anniversary Show of the Mustang will be held at the same venue the weekend of April 19,2007. Plans are still in the works but we hope as many of you as can will make this event.

LOL...I'm guessing 2009 too. Thanks for the heads up as I may make that since it's in Bamalama. Outlaws...er, in-laws...live 90 minutes away so I can kill two stones with one bird!

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary
It is a great (and do mean great) venue. Good access, well paved, decent number of hotels within a reasonable distance, and a track to die for! The motocycle museum is incredible (over 1,000 bikes!). I'll be going back...whenever it might be!

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary
Thanks for that correction, yes that would be 2009 and not 2007.
At this point our local club will be one of the host clubs and as imagined we are thrilled at the chance to help pull this thing off. As stated I'll try to keep everyone abreast of the things going on. |

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary
Well it would be hard to improve on the 40th in Nashville, TN. Awesome job by all. I'm sure Barber doesn't have gravel parking. Redhorse, hope the info is acurate and sounds like it is.. Last I read from the MCA they were considering several locations and Indianapolis Motorspeedway was up for consideration. However, that didn't seem to make much sense, weather considerations in April, for Indy would be a huge concern....glad they re-thought that one. Looks like we will be up for a longer drive. Count us in....

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary
Last week I was given the duty of being in charge of the Thursday cruise and concert in Homewood. I will do my best to give as much info as I can to help in your planning.
As of now we will be changing the route to a mostly interstate route because of the volume of traffic in Birmingham and the size of the expected convoy. Several law enforcement agencies will be assisting in the convoy and we want to take a very direct route. Instead of blocking multipule intersections will probably have 4 to 6 exits blocked for the convoy. As of this moment the cruise will begin at 6 pm on Thursday evening. Hope as many as can will arrive in Birmingham for the cruise and concert, from Barbers Motorsports Park to downtown Homewood. |

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary
I'm sure it will be a fun and memorable time for all. If it's even close to the event that the MCA 30th was, people will be talking it up for a long time to come.
One thing that I might point out, especially to those who did go to the MCA 30th. The weather in April for this show will most probably be very different than what we had for the MCA 30th. It shoudl be cooler, and there will probably be a better chance of some rain over the four days of the show. It's just the way the weather is in the south. The only thing negative I ever heard about the MCA 30th was about the heat (at least from those whom we call Yankees), but that was something out of the control of show managers and this should be much a milder show.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary
I got my registration in for the judged class. But I'm not sure now if I want to keep it that way. I understand now that the judged cars are gonna be parked together near the control tower, which makes sense now that I think about it for ease of judging. Also that may be away from any possible group gathering. I was also concerned with amout of clean up and maybe trailering the car.
Holiday Inn (irondale) tells me they are still wide open (meaning rooms) and have ample space for trailers. Anyone else sign up for judged class? I'm just gonna make a week (or longer) vacation out of this and stop in Nashville on the way down a couple days where my kids live and maybe on the way back home. |

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary
The Judged class was similarly situated at the MCA 30th event. Fortunately, that is also near where the pigeons roost, so having them 'modify' those cars which require it won't be much of a problem.
The non-judged (participant cars) Mustangs were put on the tiered parking above the base level. No pigeons there. Happily this is all paved parking, with the exception of the highest level, which was for 'corral' cars and possibly visitors. That area is grass covered, but like the rest of the area is well manicured. There was pre-assigned parking at the last event, and hopefully this will be the case again. It certainly made things flow very smoothly .

What dates is everyone booking for? Also, will there be any caravan from the east coast to get there or am I headed down on my own? Thx.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary
Room booked at the Quality Inn check in April 15, 2009!!
MCA online confirmed for Judged class. See y'all there; I'll check this site to see if there are any caravans planned from the Great Lakes area headed south.
