Re: College Football back in full swing!
You lost me on that one...
This hasn't been a boring game, that's for sure. The early play by OSU was impressive, but LSU certainly didn't take it lying down and has certainly gotten settled down to play a solid game. But, it's only half over, and isn't going to be a gimme game for anyone.

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Outstanding!!!! What a game, and what an end to a season that's been a nail biter to the end. With the AP Poll out now, it should quiet the naysayers and USC fans. No shared championship this time.
I do want to thank everyone who put in thier thoughts and love for their teams this wild and wacky season. There were no givens any week, surprises every week, and lots to talk about up until the end. I'd also like to give the 'Foot in Mouth' award to the entire ESPN crew, especially Lee Corso as well as the 'experts' on the Sports Reporters. They had plenty to say, and none of it was good conerning LSU. The amont of backpeddaling the Sports Center guys did after the game made me wonder if they were being chased by Mike The Tiger!?! Ohio State was no pushover. They came to play, and I want to give them the credit they deserve for getting to the big dance. They deserved to be there, and they never gave up. These guys are going to be a team to reckon with next year, and I can see them going to the Nat'l Champ. game next year and chalking up a deserved win. I'm sure LNCHBOX will be posting up after he finally sobers/wakes up in the Big Easy. The party never stopped there, and still going on at 6AM, I'll defer to him the details of being there until he can tell us in his won words. Thank to the Tigers for having heart, being a great group of guys, giving the people of Louisiana another reason to be proud of our team. Here's to the first team to win the BCS Championship twice, and the first two loss team to win the big one! Les, Early, Jacob, Matt, and all the rest of you guys...THANKS and GEAUX TIGERS!

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Next year, dont forget the maturing Florida and Georgia teams. It will be a braul in the SEC as usual, and maybe we will have the opportunity to send another SEC team to route OSU.

Re: College Football back in full swing!
SEC has been and continues to be the toughest conference, top to bottom, in College football. And not a half bad College basketball conference. Congratulations LSU for bringing home the championship.
SEC 7-2 in bowl games. (thanks to Florida for letting us down with Michigan)

Re: College Football back in full swing!
A big congrats to LSU on a real butt kicking to OSU. They are the better team and deserve to hoist the championship trophy.
As for the Buckeyes. Not a bad season at all considering that most experts predicted this team to be a 4-5 loss team and finish third in the Big Ten in it's rebuilding year. This team only had 3 starting seniors and could potentially return 19 starters next year. As mentioned above, they are going to be tough next year. With that said, LSU is a great football team with an excellent coach(A Cleveland area boy at that), and an outstanding program. My hats off for the drubbing they did yesterday. |

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Definitely a great game, we did just about everything right after the first 10 minutes lol. This has been a great week to be down here, and what I was surprised by the most was all the OSU fans. They travel very well and were just great poeple to party with. I made a bunch of friends, and our interaction always started with TIGER BAIT! My hats off to them for being great people. I do have some pics that I'll post when I get back to LSU. GEUAX TIGERS!

Re: College Football back in full swing!
LNCHBOX, glad to see you back in one piece! Hope you had a fantastic time.
I went to TigerMania, and they were out of the Championship hats. Purple & Gold has them, as well as the shirts. Got both, not cheap, but had to have them! In other college football news, #3 USC (yeah, #3...read it and remember it, might be as good as it gets for a while if this comes to pass) might lose their coach as the Atlanta Falcons are pusuing Pete Carroll as a candidate for their next head coach... http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/...-pete-carroll/

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Falcon I just can't see Carroll going to Atlanta from USC..........Why would I go where I have complete control to a bottom dwelling franchise????
They have a top 5 team yearly and some of the teams they have had could probably pull off some upsets in the NFL. Congrats to LSU for putting it on the weak-kneed Big 10, makes people wonder how it would have been if USC had played LSC or Georgia in the big dance, after this year, maybe a mini playoff will be on the horizon in a couple of years!!!!!!!!!!

Re: College Football back in full swing!
I agree that he would be going from a top team (I really didn't say that, did I? ) to a perinnial cellar dweller pro (or at least semi-pro) team. If he did chose to do it, it would be only for the challenge (and maybe the money...see Nick Satan). I just thought it was an interesting story to post up. We'll have to see how it all turns out.
Did you guys get to see the game over there? There was some talk about it being seen over there, but I'd not heard anything definite. I was happy to see Georgia end up #2 in the polls, not only are they an SEC powerhouse, but probably the best team you never heard about this season.

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Yes sir we got the game, I agree with Georgia, the quietest best unknown team this year........LOL. Talking about USC, I think the past 3 or 4 years they have been the pre-season #1, or definately top 3, nice little juggernaut they got going on over there. LSU has the same believe me, ever since ya'll put it on Oklahoma 5 years ago, when nobody gave ya'll a chance to win. This year was crazy in football just goes to prove how OVERRATED OSU WAS/IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you see the preseason for next year??? 1- USC 2- Georgia 3- OSU- miserable bowl failure again, I'm sure........LOL 4- Oklahoma 5- Missouri

Re: College Football back in full swing!
I'm not really sure about our chances next year. The new #1 QB is a little bit of an unknown, although he did a fine job leading in the SEC championshp game. But major names like Jacob Hester, Early Doucet and a Matt Flynn will be moving on, and that leads to a big ? for the 2008 season. We have a strong recruiting class, and hopfully that will help shore up the returning class.
Thanks for all you do over there, and hope you get home soon!

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Congrats to LSU. I'm an OSU fan and you guys deserved to win. That being said, there needs to be better schedules for all the big schools where they play better competition. Like say Big Ten vs. SEC where they play at each others school during the later part of the season. Let's see what the southerners can do during cold and wet weather, then see if the Big Ten can do the next year down in the swamps of Fla., LSU and the like. Maybe there should be a bowl game played in the north part of the U.S. (north of the Mason Dixon line). Instead of everything being in the west and south.
One other rant, Jim Tressel needs to teach his players to be balls out for 60 minutes. Not score 10 points and sit on it. He also needs to learn the spread offense better. If this keeps up, he will be out of a job. Can you image, a coach who gets his team to the BCS championship 3 times (maybe more) and gets canned because he loses more than he wins there? In this day and age anything is possible. Steve |

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Glad to hear it!
Here's a link to AOL sports, and they actuall talk good about the Tigers, the SEC and the BCS (Wow! )... http://sports.aol.com/ncaafb/story/_...08071109990002 I do have a question that I'm hoping someone who is a real sports trivia fanatic would have an answer to: Has any team ever been ranked #1 three seperate times in one season??? (We were the ONLY team not to lose as a #2 ranked team as well. #2 was a nightmare position for everyone else!)

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Quote:
The SEC schedule is more than enough to prepare us for a championship. Y'all should know. I do agree some schools need a better schedule, but to accomplish that would require a change of conference. The Big 10 will never be the SEC. And we can't schedule USC any harder of a schedule, they obviously have their hands full with Stanford ... I had to say it, it should have been SC in the game, not OSU. And UGA fans should be ashamed of their president for trying to steal our thunder. When we beat Notre Dame so bad last year, did we make a big stink about a play off or sharing the championship? No, because believe it or not LSU has some class. But poor little UGA gets left out, as they should have BTW, and this guy all of a sudden wants a play off. Win your division, then your conference, and then you can make you stupid claims

Re: College Football back in full swing!
Geez, the Gators had a #5 strength of schedule this year. If they had Hawaii's #130 out of 132, I think they would be the Champs.
