You could not get the inline 6 with ram air, but you could get it on a 302. I'll leave the question open for now, the key word is 'performance'.

Right on the money, Frank! The only 351C you could get that year with the ram air package was the 2V version!

For today; The Drag Pak 428 Cobra Jet cars had both horns located on one side of the radiator. Why?

For today; what was the name of the exotic Autolite inline 4V carburetor that was used on the racing Boss 302's?

Yes, it was!

Weekend bonus question: Ford built a 'street' version of the original GT-40, what was it called? Why is Ford not calling its' new supercar the GT-40, and how many are being built for the '03 model year and what does that number of cars commemorate?

I know part of it. Ford isn't using the GT-40 cause someone already has a trademark on it. And they wanted a boatload of money for Ford to use the name so for just went with GT. I'll be nice and leave the rest for others. That and I don't know the answers

The holder of the trade rights to "GT 40" (Safir Automotive)wanted $40 Million for the name. Ford offered 3 cars and $1 Million. No deal. Ford has built (see photo section under Ford 100) 3 cars in red, white, and blue for their 100th Anniversary to commemorate the 1-2-3 victory at LeMans.

Since the other questions have been answered, I'll take a shot at this part.
Was it "road coupe"?

The road version was called GT 40 Mk III, original ain't it? The fenders had to be modified so the headlights would be height requirements, so it wasn't as attrative as the competition cars.
And don't be affraid to answer...this isn't being graded, it's for fun and (heaven forbid) a chance to learn some cool trivia from each other...especially if some others would toss out some question, after seven pages of Q&A I'm starting to come up a little dry... (And I don't want to get into the really trivial stuff like paint stripes on coil springs and the like...)

After so many (OK, one) requests, I'll do my best to keep this thing running a little longer. Feel free to put out your own trivia questions at if you feel like it!

For today; For the most part, when you optioned a particular engine in a classic Mustang you pretty much knew what to expect under the hood. In 1970 there was an engine option that could get you drastically different engines, even though, technically, either engine had the same displacement and carb. What was it?

falcongtho3,

Do you know what actually determined which of the two you would get?

The story I got was that the earlier cars had the 'W', while later in the years the 'C' was phased in. Other than that I've never seen any official statements. Kinda like the '67 Shelby inboard/outboard headlight thing...

For those of you who were trying to keep up with this dissertation, the answer was; In 1970, if you ordered a Mustang with the 351-2V (standard in the Mach 1, optional ina ll other non-Boss Mustangs)you may have gotten a Cleveland engine or you may have gotten a Windsor engine. Even though these are totally different engines they shared displacement as well as even the same engine code in the VIN.

falcongtho3,
I was actually thinking that the H code 2V was only a Windsor and was the Standard Mach 1 engine, and that the M code 4V optional could be had as a 290 HP Windsor or 300HP Cleveland. Of course this was Fords choice not the buyer.

Side Note:
And where you only able to get a Windsor on the 69 & 70 Shelby GT 350 with a M code? I think so? Shelby sales were off for 69/70.(70's were just rebadged 69 correct ?)Could this explain maybe left overs for the regular production 70 Model year to be used up ? We just use Windsors and Clevelands both till we run out of Manifolds for the Windsors.

Would be curious to know if any late builds in 70 got 4V Windsors.(regular productions)
They were putting these in other models too.

OK, here's my little bit of Trivia

What does the phrase "Too Young, Too Old, Just Right "

Have to do with Ford engine tuning?

For '70, all 351-4Vs were Clevelands. 351-2Vs could be either. As far as the '69/'70 Shelbys, since the '70's were really only leftover '69's then they were all 351W's. The only Shelbyized Clevelands were the ultra-rare Shelby Europa in '71, and then only in Europe.
I've never seen a '70 with a 4V Windsor from the factory, and I cry 'uncle' as far as your question...I bow to others to answer this one...

Very Good AZDave,

I picked that up from my High School Auto Teacher, one of the few things that stuck. I have actually had to refer to it a number of times, and when working on cars too....
