Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary

For the folks going on the Thursday night cruise to Homewood,Al. Line up is said to be at 6 p.m., I would suggest to start lining up between 5 and 5:30; there is already 500 cars registered for this and it will take some time to get everyone in line. The cruise will leave Barbers Motorsports park at 6:30 SHARP!!!!!! We will have law enforcement escort the entire trip and several interstate areas will be blocked for us and we will have to be on time and not tie up traffic any longer than what is needed.

Here is the convoy route as of this date. For those who attended the 30th MCA Show, we traveled to the 280 coridor and passed through many trafffic signals, this has changed. This time we will leave Barbers and enter Interstate 20 at exit 140 and proceed west to Interstate 59 to downtown Birmingham. We will enter I-20/59 and continue west to U.S. Hwy 31 and turn south on Hwy 31. Traveling on Hwy 31 we will go to 28th Street in Homewood and begin to park. This route will elimanate all but 2 traffic signals and the cruise should be able to stay together. The cruise will be about 19 miles in length.

Can you provide some times and the days you are planning this?
Y'all are fairly close to Lex. KY - that for me is about a bit over an 8 hr drive.
Please email me or list here the time / dates you are planning - I think it be great to meet up.

I have no problem leaving even earlier in the morning on the 14th to meet up.
Those couple meets in 2003 where I met up with y'all in Ky or Cinci Hooters I left home between 4 & 6 AM.

Currently one friend from a local Mustang club is registered for the 45th event and is following me down in his 08 Mustang GT.

For the Thursday night cruise, I'll post directions and a list of places to eat. This is my main responsibility for the 45th. I'll have this up sometime within the next couple weeks.

Thanks. Maybe we can all eat together.
Frank, from what I read in Mustang Monthly there will be a caravan from the track to the Cruise location.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary

You would have had to sign up when you registered for the show for the Downtown Cruise on Thursday.

Got a letter today about registering for the Sunday night banquet for the MAA participants. Wondering if anyone from here is signing up for it?

Thanks, Dave! I've been in communication with Scott Hoag of MRT about meeting up with the group on one of these nights (possibly Friday).

Also, I am in touch with John Clor of the Ford Performance Group, with which the Registry is affliated, to see if he is available to meet as well.

On Sunday, there is great racing action - the Mustang Challenge series. It would be neat to commemorate this event with a group run around the track. This would NOT be like the driving events being run by the MCA.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary

I have been busy securing the needed parking places for the Homewood cruise-in on Thursday night. Yes, we will convoy from the Barbers Track to downtown Homewood again. We will be taking a very different route this time though.

I am working of a list of places to eat (which is very important to me). I'll post the resturants here and also in your cruise package you will get the same list. Along with directions to the cruise location in case someone gets seperated from the group.

I was told to prepare for 500 cars but we have room for many more. The best advice I can give now is start lining up around 5:30 pm that night. We will have a large law enforcement escort and certain exits will be blocked at certain times. The convoy will leave Barbers NO LATER THAN 6:30 REGARDLESS. The quicker you get in line the better.

The escort will include but is not limited to; The Alabama Highway Patrol, Leeds P.D., Irondale P.D., Birmingham P.D., Homewood P.D. and The Jefferson County Sheriff Department. As with the last convoy the old Special Service Package Mustang Police cars will be invited to lead the convoy also.

I'll give an update later.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary

Hey, redhorse, do you think it will be possible to stage the Mach 1 Registry owners and their cars if people would like to be in a convoy line? If so, any suggestions on where that could be done?

Thanks for all your help on the cruise logistics.

I bought a CB today for the MAA. How many of you have BC's? I hope this one works well.
