Re: How much hp can the stock tranny take?
On threads like this, the first thing I wonder is what transmission we are talking about. Did I miss that part? I looked over the thread several times and haven't found that info yet.
At this point I am only assuming that it's a manual since the people replying seem to have made that assumption as well and not been corrected. Not trying to be an azz, but it really helps to know as many details as possible when trying to help answer a question. Since I work on automatics and it hasn't been specified which we are really talking about yet, I will tell you about that end of it. As mentioned, the stock transmissions can be broken on stock power levels and that goes for both the manual and automatic. The 03 automatics are definitely weaker than the 04's for sure. The 04's can definitely handle a mild power adder without much trouble, but not so much with the 03's. Some can and some can't. It's a crapshoot. But, I wouldn't want to put a power number to it because I have seen some break with stock power and some live with more than 600rwhp. A lot of it truly depends on stuff outside the transmission including everything from and between the tires to the driver. If you want peace of mind then the only way to go is to build everything to handle more than what you plan on asking of it. Darrin |

Re: How much hp can the stock tranny take?
Assuming it is a 5-speed TR3650, mine is still working just fine. As a matter of fact, it's the sole remaining stock part left in my entire drivetrain!

Re: How much hp can the stock tranny take?
I don't know about you guys but I been beating my car with 502 torque and 465 and my tranny is fine. I don't even hear my clutch grinding. Also my friend on his 01 cobra with 750 rwhp has the stock 3650 with a stage 3 clutch and hes raced a couple of times and its fine. I believe is the shock load. I don't think our tranny can hold from the dig but on the highway roll they be fine.

Re: How much hp can the stock tranny take?
the life on these is all about proper clutch engadment. if the clutch is adjusted correctley it lengthens the life greatly.... plus the stock auto quadrant setup is garbage anyways. get it out of there!!
now as far as 4th gear pull getting traction ide say in the area of 600rwTQ would be where the input shaft will twist...

Re: How much hp can the stock tranny take?
Make sure you get it in gear when shifting and get an aftermarket quadrant/adjuster and you'll be fine. The only time you hear about transmission issues its because of the shitty quadrant setup or because people need to learn to shift.

Re: How much hp can the stock tranny take?
Yes. That's the first combo I had and the clutch twisted the input shaft. I now run the MMR RBT700 and will not purchase a different clutch.
