Intake Spacer Dyno Results
Okay everyone I did a little science experiment to see how intake spacers performed on Mach 1s. I took my Mach 1 to the dyno ran 2 baseline runs then put the spacer on and ran 2 more runs without any tuning to see what the results would be. I was a little surprised at the results. I've attached a a couple of pics of the dyno charts. What do you guys think?

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
I forgot to mention this testing was done with a 3/8" spacer.

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
Seems worthwhile to me!
Care to be more specific about your setup?

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
Were runs 3,4,5,6 done in order? If so, I see no appreciable gain.

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
ya a little explanation on the numbers would be nice. Theres one pull thats ~10hp/tq lower than all the rest. The others are within about 1%, Id have to imagine thats in the window of margin for error on a dyno

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
Going from the first run (which I'm assuming is without the spacer) to the last run (with the spacer), it looks like +8hp and +8tq unless my eyes are playing tricks on me..

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
Except run #2 was the highest, which would be run 2 of no spacer.

However, I think OP may be mistaken either about how many pulls of each were made or how many of each pull was actually recorded on that sheet. It makes better sense to me that only the first pull on that sheet was a baseline and the others were with the spacer installed. The numbers got slightly higher, as would be expected, and were all on top of one another showing a consistent change. This thread really seems more like an exercise in speculation unless OP can clear some things up.

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
I got 9hp and 9 tq results at Pro-Dyno when I installed my Roys 3/8 spacer Dan was surprised that the spacer worked too .

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
Okay guys sorry i haven't responded sooner runs were done in order 3,4,5, and 6 so there was no real power gain. I think run 3 was just garbage and my tuner didn't pull hard or something. Runs 3 and 4 were done with 301 Eagle stroker kit 9.1:1 compression, pocket port on the heads, comp cams 106100s w/ beehive springs and Comp cam gears, MAC LTs and O/R Prochamber w/ stock catback and a K&N CAI. Runs 5 and 6 were w/ same mods except i put the spacer on while the car was cooling down. All runs were same day. My A/F did go from about 12.5-12.8 all the way up to over 14. I think as far as Hp goes its not worth it, but it does make the shaker look better. I also put 2 nuts under the front part of the shaker bracket to level it out after. I am wondering what would happen if we change the tune up a little and give it some more fuel.

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
I forgot all runs had Steeda UDPs as well. Other mods are Mishimoto radiator, Edelbrock water pump, Reishe Performance thermostat, SVT Focus fuel pump, Exedy lighweight flywheel and stage 2 clutch, Steeda Tri-ax shifter. I may have forgot some more, but thats what i can remember off the top of my head.

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
I'm surprised by the numbers. While the spacer typically doesn't add much to the peak numbers, you normally see a nice bump in the mid rpm range. There is nothing on this one, very unusual.

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
I don’t think this is a fair test. It obviously did enough to change the a/f so it must do enough to warrant a retune. We need a tuner test back to back same day...

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
I did dyno runs back to back without and with the spacer. I can't find the dyno sheets, but I did find the rpm-hp-torque data dumps. Without the spacer, I crossed 300 ft-lb tq at 3900 rpms, with the spacer it was at between 3300-3400 rpms. Peak hp/torque without the spacer was 296/324, peak hp/torque with was 302/327. In both cases, I dropped back below 300 ft-lbs torque between 5100-5200 rpm.
It did zero on the peak numbers, just fattened up the torque curve.

Didn’t he make 1/2” spacers too? Did it fair better or worse?

Re: Intake Spacer Dyno Results
So I did this test to just see what the results of just bolting on a spacer. would be That's why i did 2 pulls before, then put the spacer on and did 2 more. I am sure it would pick up something if it got a re-tune but the test was just to see if you could just bolt it on and pick something up.
