Biggest Pet Peeves Related to Cars

Ok so I got the idea for this thread because my sister-in-law needed an oil change in her car. Normally the oil changes were done at the dealership, however she had dinner with the wife and I, so I told her that I would just do it real fast to save time.

Then I ran into my biggest pet peeve when working on cars.

So what is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to cars. It can be from working on them or anything of the sort as long as it follows the rules of the forum.

Here is mine:

She has a 2007 Chevy Equinax. So I crawl under there with my 13mm socket ready to pull the bolt off the oil pan. Much to my surprise since it was always done at a dealership before, the bolt was stuck. So instead of trying to pry it off, I sprayed it with a little PB blaster, went inside and had dinner to allow the PB Blaster some time just in case it was due to rust build up.

Come back out about 30 min later and give another tug on the bolt (Yes I was doing it in the correct direction...lol) but still wouldn't come loose. I then repositioned myself and grabbed a cheater bar and gave it all my might and BOOM....stripped the screw...WTF...

It seriously felt like the bolt was put on there by superman... So I told her to take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it because there is no reason that the oil pan bolt should ever be on there that tight.

So there you have it folks...the thing that p!sses me off most about working on cars is when an idiot overtightens a bolt that has no business being over tightened.
